I was wondering how close we can get to a date on this razor?
I picked it up off Ebay for $48. Its since cleaned up real nice and I wrapped it up for a christmas present for myself ! Boy do I want to open that one early! :hmmm:
Anyone put a date on it? :shrug: I get around 1910 from the other forums.
Why is the date so important to you?
I think most people on this forum care more about a razor's shave quality, not its age
I'll go with Ivo on this one. Here, we're willing to completely destroy the collector's value of a razor just to slightly improve the shave performance.
It certainly has an appropriate look for that period, though I couldn't really say.
And, yeah, collectors would be aghast that people here sharpen the razor from it's pristine condition. :) But if he wants to get help, I think it's a bit rude to say, "You don't need to know."

I have one just like it that was made in the 30's.I dont know how long that handle pattern was made,but have seen it,and have it on several razors I own.Also in different colors.By the way they sure are nice shavers are'nt they? Best Regards Gary

I would certainly like to know the age of some of mine as well. If I ask the question on SRP I would like to think I would get an answer, not an opinion.

your razor was made. I feel that this
was a perfectly good question.

We have always been about all aspects concerning straight razors including collecting. Wish I knew the date on this and could help out more. Boker's are some of my favorite shavers.

Without a "boker representative" or a catalogue for their items, I'm not sure HOW we can determine when a particular style was made.
Outside of trying to date the style/materials that were used for the razor (i.e. maker's stamp, scale material - plastic vs. celluloid, jimping, blade grind, endspacer material, pin collars). However, that particular blade/scale could be anywhere from 1900-1950's, give or take 10-15 years.
Is that a big enough span? ;)
