very nice. I like the 4 pins at the wedge.
Nice, love how the scales have a barber's notch!
Great work!
Looks good. Enjoy many shaves with her.
Why cant I stop looking at this razor? :dropjaw:
Gents,
The Elliot arrived today. Simply marvelous. Attachment 102236Attachment 102237
That is a beautiful razor, Sir.
And I thought I occasionally get carried away with insisting on putting two pins in the wedge every time... I like it! :)
Definitely love the color of the scales... very unique. Very nice pin work, too... gives it a very unique look!
The scope of the color selection and the pin work was a deliberate action on my part. The scales mimic the barber's notch on the blade. Most importantly, the razor was made during the reign of Queen Victoria and she would have worn the Imperial State Crown. At one time it was lined in a purplish blue ermine material and the the four pins in circling the notch suggests a shape of a crown. Also, the four pins represent the four major jewels in the crown St. Edward's Sapphire, a sapphire taken from the ring (or possibly coronet) of Edward the Confessor, the Black Prince's Ruby, the famous Cullinan II, or Lesser Star of Africa, and The Stuart Sapphire.

Interesting. I wasn't a fan of all the toe weight, but now knowing the history and the connection, I think it's cool and appropriate.
Have fun.
Nicely done! Looks like your craftsmanship is top notch! Keep it up and keep posting pics of your work!
