First Ebay Razor
I wonder if anyone can tell anything about my first ebay razor [I'd post a picture but I don't know how].Heres the description: It was made in Germany for R. H. Hegener of Minneapolis Minn. its called a RECORD. The blade appears to be a 4/8 with a square foot [tip]. The scales are ivory colored and there are metal [silver?] piceces at both end, kind of fancy looking.

you can always post a link the ebay auction so we can see the pics there which u bought it from.
hard to say without
does it say on the tang ...sheffield / solingen...etc etc? anything else on the tang area.

It is a standard 4/8 model razor that was very popular.
Many of those were sold and have various names on them. They have easy to hone steel and are usually a single concave wedge grind. They take a very nice edge.

OK...that is a bi-concave, full hollow ground razor. Not a wedge grind. It is a 4/8 from the pic's. Good razor but it may be a bit tricky to hone because of the narrow width.

On the bright side, you've taken your first step toward a raging razor addiction. :tu

Thanks for the info, I polished and it looks really good now. I think i might send it to Joe Chandler for honing. I've never honed a razor before and I still need to buy a Norton 4000/8000 wetstone.
