I like this!! I just found this thread tonight. Thanks for putting this together and sharing it.

I am new to this hobby and am geeking out trying to learn as much as I can. I know my OCD has kicked in and I am falling in love with the art of the razor as well as the needed skill. This helps to fill both the OCD and the love of the art.

I am very glad to tell everyone my straight razor ruler has been added to the SRP Library. Now it can also be downloaded from this page: Straight Razor Ruler - Straight Razor Place Library

After rereading the initial post, where you asked for potential improvements, the only one I can think of is to have it go a bit larger for wider blades, maybe up to 11/8 as the widest blades anyone seems to really get are about 10/8.
That's not to say it isn't a great tool as is, i used mine in a post recently.

Thank you for your feedback. It is now a very long time I am thinking about expanding that scale in order to measure wider blades. My idea is to expand it to at least 12/8.

Gentlemen,
I updgraded my Straight Razor Ruler and expanded it to 12/8. The ruler is just like the old one except for vertical scales which can now measure up to 12/8 blades.

I download the ruler and measure my SR’s. Can someone inform me the start and end point to measure this 5/8 or 6/8 because my razors are something between 6/8 and 7/8 but I buy them for 5/8 .

I will try to answer this and if I'm wrong, please correct me.

This A. W. Wadsworth falls between 5/8 and 6/8, I would round down and call it a 5/8.

No you are not wrong what you describe in the simplest way I will consider 5/8. But I just realize am shaving all that long with 6.5/8.

Here is what another member had to say a few years back from a very similar thread...

I can tell you this, my personal target razors that I shop for, are real marked on the box American and Solingen 11/16 spike point extreme hollows :) they just fit my face the best

ps: All this applies to 9/16 and 13/16 razors too, it is rather rare to find the 16th's marked on the box

Razorguy, a huge Thank You for all of your effort in providing this really handy scale. It's easy enough to scrounge up a regular scale to measure a razor, but your scale is way more convenient (and accurate). Thanks again!

I have printed them on photo paper with good results. I then used cheap laminating film from the office department at any big store..Walmart, Office depot, etc. Allows better control of the surface for photos, etc.

a while ago, i drew a very basic version of this "high resolution" version, cut it out and laminated it. if you like i can send you the pdf-file. for printing, the scale should be set to 100 %, if i remember correctly.
