DOH!!!
I decided to buy a vintage razor I found at an antique shop. It was pretty dirty but it is a Simmons Hardware Razor from St. Louis (down the road) so I thought WTH and snatched it.
I was correct in thinking it would clean up easy and look pretty nice with just a wipe down with some polish.

Been there and done that. Reminds me of the old "Wide World Of Sports" TV show intro .... "The thrill of victory .... :y ..... and the agony of defeat." :boohoo:

...as the skier goes tumbling off the jump.
I am going to have to get creative with this one. Perhaps I can make it into a user some how...
It almost looks like someone used the tip as a screwdriver. Just a tiny crease in the last 1/8 of the blade....man, I wish I had seen that before negotiating the price.
I have done worse...far worse:D

DOH!!!
I think this might work. I have a few other plans I might try as well.
I would love to know the story about how that little crease got there.

The notch that is present is supposed to be there. About half way between the notch and the blade there is a crease that runs parallel to the edge and extends about 1/8 inch away from the toe. I wish I had taken a better photo of the damage:

This thread shows another razor identical to mine (without the crease). It is the second razor shared in the thread;)

Sorry, I meant grind it into a French point to cure the problem but Spanish point would work too.

Here's mine with that exact same blade shape but no damage. It's got bone scales and is quite a nice shaver.
You'll have to excuse the crappy phone pics, color is off and everything, but you can get the idea.

Now I see it, I have one with a similar crease and still shaves well.
Please take this coming from someone who has not done a lot of restoration work.... See if it still sits flat on the hones. If it will hone up without any problems, you may not have to modify it at all. Of course you may WANT to !!!! Good luck and keep us posted.
