A stupid dare/challenge.
I would LOVE to see someone buy one of these terrible 'sweeny todd' razors from ebay, try their best to hone it up and post pics of themselves shaving with it. Some of these are labelled as 'fully functional' so why doesn't someone with a few bucks but legendary honing skill give this a shot for us? :)

If I recall correctly, Sharptonn already did. Then he tried to use the scales for something else and they were too heavy to be of any use for that either.

If the grind isn't right , and the steel isn't right , the "razor" will not shave right , no matter how well you can hone . If we could get them to shave , we would be doing it , already .

A stupid dare/challenge.
I have seen this done elsewhere and the conclusion was that the blade was a knife grade not razor grade.
-
So..this razor can be purchased..scales put on a blade that needs scales..Sweeney Todd blade reground for chopping vegetables..hehe
-
My assumption from reading those listing is that they would make a terrible razor, but a killer letter opener. :)

From the number still available NEW, I think someone added an extra zero when the order for the blanks.:) To bad that doesn't happen with quality razor blanks.

Couple of years ago there was a thread on a pattern welded steel razor coming out of Pakistan IIRC. One way or another the vendor for same came to SRP and .... to make a long story short..... he sent his best work to holli4pirating to be honed and brought to shave ready. The grind , as in workmanship, was terrible and the steel was worse. So if it seems the prices for those things are too good to be true .... you get what you pay for. :)

I'll buy one, closes in 5m at 1 cent, if, Jimmy will hone it, and, we can send it to Wullie - he'll try anything, and mapleleafalumnus can write the critique, and well that should just about take care of everything, except, well, maybe the doctor's bills.
Insincerely,
Howard :roflmao

Now if someone made a legit (i.e. a real razor not an object resembling a razor) copy who would be interested?
Come on... be honest now! I didn't think it was that great a flick, but I'd sign up for one if it was actually a quality blade. :)
