Help with ID? could this be a Red Imp?

Was traveling on business last week and was in an area with several Antique stores. Went in to one that was a one room store front that was packed with more stuff than I ever saw in on place. There was a little old lady that asked if there was anything in particular I was looking for and I said I just wanted to browse. Took about 5 minutes to quickly survey everything, and on my way out I asked about straights. At that point she started pulling out about a dozen different straight she had behind the counter. All were in really good shape and fairly priced. I only had a limited amount of cash and my wife would have sent me packing if I had bought everything I wanted to. I settled on this wedge for $9.00 and a Van Camp Special Barber Hone for $10.00. The razor has no identification on it. It is a wedge. The razor is solid and the scales are in great shape. There is some hone wear, but it sharpened up great. It was in a box labeled RED IMP Razor NO.132 Wedge -9/16.. The box is in really good shape. The razor is a wedge and it does measure 9/16. Anyone recognize this razor could this be the a Red Imp and the box is matched to the razor? From what I've been able to determine Red Imp razors usually are well labeled. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Since there are no marks on it, there really is no way of knowing what brand or model it really is. One can see that it is a vintage razor, wedge shaped, apparently without much damage. My guess is it is going to be a lovely shaver, in any case. Grats, good score :tu

it COULD be a red imp. With that said, there are way too many vintage razors that look like this to say. Spike wedges, prosperity wedges, superwedges, wedges, etc, are all labels that you'll see on a razor that looks like this. These would definitely not be the stock scales if it were a red imp.
Go get someone to engrave it with 'red imp' and you'll have what you want :rofl2:

The Red Imps I've had, had very deep stamps. IMO, there's no way that razor is an Imp. Whatever brand it is, must have used acid etching to put their makers mark on. Which can be made to disappear pretty fast IMHO. I don't think Case used acid etching. Pretty sure all their stuff is stamped.

Well..it's definitely nicer than any I've ever owned. lol. If the OP isn't appreciative, I certainly am. :)

Based on my research, I really didn't think this was a Red Imp. Saying that, for a no-name razor, it is a really good quality razor, and is a really good shaver, and is in really good shape. I like it!

If it shave you well, it is a great razor. Enjoy it, looks like a nice find.
