That is so huge it's hilarious! You have got to post of pic of you shaving with that beast.
Oh man, lucky! Can't wait for the hi-res pics ;)
Nice Work! :chapeau
The guy said its an inch and a half wide, but even if its a bit short of that, its still the biggest one I've ever seen from any of the old makers. Not sure if it was posted for $600, i think that was the winning bid...i got it for my highest snipe at $550. Now i just have to figure out how to pay rent this month...
Wow, that is a monster! Good luck.
Couldn't have ended up in better hands! Can't wait to see this one all fixed up and ready for the ball!
I don't have enough face to shave with that.
Shave or paddle your canoe. Sweet.
That thing is even bigger than the 10/8 in that other thread!! Holy smokes that is huge...
What are your plans with it? Just honing her up and shave, or are you going for a mirror finish and total restore?
I would love to see some high-res pics once you have them.
This is definitely the largest GB that I've seen so far.
For that price though... Yeah, I might have done that...
:-)
Lmao @ sashimi...this IS the 10/8 in the other thread. This one turned out to be 10/8, not 12/8...and since it was mislabeled, I'm getting a small partial refund :)

ps, you've got about 1 minute before the auction on its twin brother ends on flea bay :)
Yeah, I had my eyes on that one, but it went through the roof!
620, that will get you a custom razor...
Everybody says that. I'd still prefer a 150 year old clunker, with 150 years of history...and I make my own scales custom, exactly how I wan them :)
This is biggest I have found 34 mm
Nice score Tony!
Congratulations.
Looking forward to the pics once fixed up.
:)
Very nice ! Congrats ! is this the one Kees posted from marktplaats?
Looks to be in a good condition..very nice.
Man, you could use that as a surfboard.
Were these big razors made for barbers or vets?
The blade won’t be the problem, I will try to keep the original grinding, don’t mind a couple of spots.
It’s the scales that Will be more of a problem for me, cracked and little warped, the blade is falling through scales right now.
Because of the chip I was bound to lose some width. So this morning I removed it and honed her for a testshave later on. With a bevelangle of Near 15 degrees I added 2 layers of tape. The geometry was a little off as can be expected but not as bad as other GB’s I have done in the past.
