There is also one new maker named Kanenaga, his kamisoris look very nice and can be found on the bay. He is 60-smth years old and used to make scissors, there are couple of good reviews arround the forums.. I have a Teramasa (tamahagane) and it's also great.

Isn't that the same bladesmith as Kanetaka, whose kamisori are also available on aframestokyo.com? I don't know any Japanese, but do know that the spelling of Japanes in the western alphabet may vary.

Could be, I've also seen these kamis on Rakuten and they look very similar.. I didn't notice the difference in spelling until you pointed it out.

No, they are different makers. Kanetaka's mei is 金高 and Kanenaga is 兼長. Kanetaka takes strong design cues from Inoue Tosuke, while Kanenaga's work looks quite different. The former's location is mentioned by sellers to be Kyoto, and the latter is Hyogo.

Actually taking a good look at both, Kanetaga (at aframes) looks to be a better kami for the price. Looks nicer and you're right about the Tosuke influence. But that's just my opinion. (+Takeshi at aframes is a relly nice guy)

i believe Kanenaga, when he switched from scissor-making, learned from a smith who made for Henkotsu; im lookin at a new one from him if i can get this ol' Henkotsu here sharp enough to shave me
