Dovo SS vs. Fridour

Further to an exchange with antother member, I'm interested in hearing people's views regarding the differences/similarities between Dovo SS and Fridour razors.

The only SS razor I have is a 7/8 Fridour (which I've only used once!). I like the convenience/ease of care/stiffness properties of SS, but would like a 6/8 blade, as this is my preferred width.

The Dovo "Renaissance" is about $120 and is very attractive (old style blade shape, rounded heel, nice scales) and the Fridour 6/8 is $150 and is quite plain.

Both are full hollow 6/8 SS razors and I am interested in whether people think there are differences between Dovo SS and Fridour blades - and, if so, what they are.

They're both very hard, and I can't tell much difference in the way they shave. I have two of the NOS 6/8 Fritz Bracht Dovos, though, rather than their newer offerings.

Yes, and to be honest, I don't know, as I don't have a newer one to compare it to. Anecdotally (I think it was Lynn who said it, but I apologize if I'm attributing it to the wrong person) the Fritz Brachts were better ground and made than Dovos newer offerings. The ones I have shave very well, but they were as hard and resistant to honing as my hardest Friodur (also a 7/8).

I have them both, and I find the shaves very comparable... They are both great shavers...

I much prefer my dovo stainless to my friodurs. Friodurs are superb.... but the dovo stainless blades are more rigid and for me, provide a superior shave. I'd liken the dovo stainless to a 1/3 hollow.
