Bismarck and Pearlex

Same here.
I to fell in love with the White and gold Bismarck so i bought it and it is Amazing.
But my second choice was the Pearlex also.
So if i couldn't get the Bismarck i wouldn't have minded the Pearlex.
Now they are both a little different as you know.
One is shoulderless one is not
One is 5/8 one is 6/8
Both are gorgeous so for me one or the other the white and gold was enough for me.
Or wait and see what the guys here say as they are more knowledgeable than me as i to have only been shaving with a straight for about 2 months **AND LOVE IT***
I think any choice is a great choice for the looks.
As for performance maybe someone knows more if they have both.

I got the Dovo Ebony Stainless 5/8, and the Bismarck is probably my current top choice to try for a 6/8. I'll also need to save up a little first. In truth, I just don't need it yet. I got a good deal on a C-MON Cadillac that is amazing, so I'm just going to rotate the two for awhile and see how long I can stand to go without buying another razor. Unless I see another great deal, of course.

If you really want to get the Bismarck, then wait for them to re-stock. E-mail SRD and ask them how long it will take. They have great customer service and will get back to you shortly. I remember when I wanted to get a Boker King Cutter, but it was out of stock. I am so glad I waited and finally got it.

I have tried that and it won't last long. Good luck though. I have been wanting to get a Bismark. I have a thing for shoulderless razors.

Traps- i had been thinking of the pearlex but as similar as it may be to the Bismarck i just dont feel that draw towards it. to me its just another fancy razor and well worth it, but the Bismarck seems like the perfect one + the shoulderless razor intrigues me. i checked the bismarck with ebony scales and that one too is out of stock (tough luck)
Furcifer- Im glad you found a great deal, mind if i ask you to put up a few shots? cuz i havent seen a cadillac it sounds quite classy. Its always good to know that a fellow straight shaver has found what he has been looking for. congrats and may you find many more.
Skippy- Yea i realised that i want the Bismarck, and as good as the Pearlex is im sure for me it will be a crude compensation for a bismarck, and everytime ill hold the razor in my hands and stare at it, in the pearlex i will always see the bismarck i could have had with a little more patience. thanks for the motivation, i needed it.

If you look around you can find that Bismarck elsewhere. For instance, I see that thesuperiorshave.com still has them in stock (with free worldwide shipping) and I'm sure you can find it on other sites as well.

I have two older #2 Bismarcks and a 1226850 - no name, just a number - which is the same blade without the gold wash, just plain shiny steel, and they are all wonderful shavers. You'll love it.

wow that is great you guys! i can't thank you enough!
although i am looking for the $38 shipping since UAE is pretty far from USA and i would like the best and safest method of deliver for the razor, it also estimated a delivery within 3-5 business days. i do think that TSS has it available. One last quest; are these razors pro honed? because i dont think i read anything about them being shave ready here although SRD has them shave ready (as it was written that the razors are pro-honed) anyways ill look into it further.

that is a very good idea, but so far i have had everything purchased from the U.S. so there was sort of a "consumer loyalty" that developed and i never considered anything else. but thanks for knocking that thought into imy head sir! i will look into it and see whats most fitting.

I fell in love with the red Bismark but it is no longer being made. The white was my second choice, but they were out so I got the black one. I can tell you this, I love it. Took me a little bit to get used to shaving with a 6/8 but now I have it down and it is a great shaving razor. I absolutely love it. IMO it would be worth the wait if you are dead set on the white one. If not go for the black.

He means that delivery can take that long, although it's more likely to take a couple of weeks, and unless you pay for tracking there will be no way to find out what's going on when you become impatient.

Not to hijack the thread, but one comment..

You might have been lucky that you couldn't find the old red scaled Bismarck. I've had two of them and in both cases the scales warped badly. I unpinned them (more fun with those three pin scales) and straightened them but within six months one warped again. I rescaled that one in wood and traded the other. I know that lots of guys have had no trouble with the red while plenty of others have had my experience. Just bad luck I guess.

I LOVE the look of the Bismarck, I will surely get one when I can afford it. The Pearlex is another of my favorite ones that I've seen so far =]

The Superior Shave has them in stock and it will come shave ready. Jarod, the owner, personally hones each razor. He also provides amazing customer service. Best of all, he takes pictures of each individual razor in stock, so you get to pick your actual razor.

dustoff- i have checked that link, red isnt exactly what im looking for plus 160 euros is ALOT :D but thankyou! since i was able to find other quality razors while surfing it and im very sure ill purchase one particular razor that i found absolutely gorgeous with beautiful spinework!

I just picked up my first true straight. Prior to this I have been shaving with a shavette for the last 3 months transitioning off my DE razor. I grabbed a Bismark with the pearl scales. I was interested in the red, but saw a lot of posts and several sights selling seconds in the red scales for warping issues. Here is my Bismark
I was a little surprised I found theshavette way esier and more natural to shave with. But I'm sure it will take me some time to find out what this razor likes. The photos don't due the scales justice, they are simple and not overly done but have much more depth andcolor than the photos portray

Not to rub salt in the wound but I may have snaked the last one. I ordered it through SRD and yu mentioned thy were all out. I was considering going with a feather artistis club straight since I was hving such good luck with my shavette with feather DE blades. If I find that I can't make the jump to a true straight ill let you know if your still in the market

haha theres no salt rubbing at all! i know how hard it is to acquire such great razors for such a price, its quality and beauty merged with a very affordable price for something like that. As i said earlier it makes me happy when people get the straights they desire. I appreciate your offer but Please give it some time before reselling it im sure itll be a great shaver :D hope you make the leap to true straight shaving alot of people have difficulties and if given the time they begin to master it in ways they see best! have fun!

Jarrod of TSS is a great guy. It's like he's honing all day and taking pictures and answering email questions at the same time...even on weekends.

I have bought a strop and a coticule from him and had lots of questions and he answered right away, gave great advice and threw in something extra in the order. He ships quickly and packs well.

that is a beauty! somehow the picture makes the red scales look better than what i have seen in quite a lot of other pictures, a LOT better! congrats on the purchase its obviously a great razor and thanks for sharing this beaut :D. i on the other hand have dropped my quest for bismarck, i figured i needed some quality equipment so i did a bunch of shopping at srd andd got a dovo bq which i find quite nice and simple, pretty good for a first razor (that id purchase myself). thanks! i've been having alot of happy shaving really, have a fine razor that i have been using for some time but i cant figure out what brand it is since it doesnt have any stamps or logos. doesnt really matter though its a great shaver! but the curiosity.....
