I use straights exclusively: Hart steel 1/4 & TI full hollow. Love straights for 2 years. Need a DE for upcoming travel where I won't check luggage. Looking at feather vs muhle vs merkur. I shave about every other day & have somewhat sensitive skin. Thanks!
so you're going to bring a DE with you and buy blades when you get to your destination?
Your short list looks like all new stuff... not interested in a vintage safety razor?
They all give great shaves. Probably the feather and Muhle are at the top of the heap. However I don't know I'd be taking any high dollar razor with me. I've heard stories of them not allowing DE's to go through security even without a blade.
Feather: Too MIld
Merkur and Muhle: Depends on the model.
Some guys loves Muhle R41 that is an open comb model but i prefer Muhle R89 nice and very comfortable shave.

As a previous post says, put the blades in your checked baggage, or buy blades at your destination.

Thanks fellas. I've been looking at the Muhle R41. I use a straight & am not afraid of an exposed, sharp blade. Most of the reviews are, well, encouraging. Might try with both Kai & Feather blades.

I would probably choose a SE like an injector or a Gem. Much stiffer blades for a better shave.
