differences in the wade and butchers

Hello all. Got a question..I have seen plenty of threads on wade and butcher razors. The question is this...what is the difference or differences if any between the different ones...I mean there is the for barbers use, the bow(which I happen to own one), and just wade and butcher..
I know slot of companies make different varieties like car manufactures...but is it just that different models so to speak? And why is it that the for barbers use seems to be the more"popular" one?
I only own the one but curious to this.

They were in business for a very long time in a very competitive market. They came out with many variations to capture more of that market IMO. You'll see etchings on blade or scales that say, "The Original and Only True", could be frameback, Bow, whatever. Wostenholm printed that with their Pipe razor. Wosty also stamped IXL for I excel and Allen came along and stamped theirs NonXL . I imagine they hoped to confuse buyers and ride Wostys coat tails.

The 'barbers use' are popular, IMHO, because they look cool. Also because we Americans seem to always think that 'bigger is better'. Why on earth would anyone want something bigger than a 44 magnum ? Anyway ....... all of the above is just IMHO.

I don't know if they shave that any better than other vintage Sheffield razors, but I LOVE the way they look!!! For me, it's just a "I want it" thing. Unfortunately, I think the market/prices have been driven up because of people like me. I just wanted one so I could see what all the fuss was about. They're neat to own and I love showing interested friends my W&B's. If you are patient, you can usually find one in decent shape.

Well I do own a bow and will probably pick up more..I like the wedge blades a little more and more every day..
