I received this guy as a Christmas gift (no straight razor experience). I have read the wiki page and ordered a strop, but I'm worried this may be a knock-off paki razor. Thoughts?

Solingen are German made razors and are supposed to be good. I have a few and they are fine shavers.
No worries. Looks to be in exceptional shape, it should be a smooth shaver. Knock offs and cheap copies aren't a big concern with straight razors yet. I think there's more money to be made making clearly labeled cheap razors. At any rate, make sure it's professionally honed before you attempt to shave with it. And welcome!
I have almost the exact same thing in white. The blade is a little different (no shoulder), but it also just has "SOLINGEN GERMANY" laser etched on the tang. Honestly the thing shave pretty good considering it's a generic! I actually got it for honing practice and it honed up REALLY well!

Welcome and good luck, what would make you think that your razor is not a genuine German made razor from Solingen? If it is not shave ready send it out to be honed and then when it gets back enjoy. I would say reach out to members in your location but you did not list a location, that does not mean you can't still find help nearby it just means we don't know where you are.
Solingen was the area in Germany where all the cutlery makers set up. In the few years I've been shaving with a straight razor, I've never had a dud from Solingen whether it's been branded or generic. They are usually made of quite hard steel but once honed properly take a very nice edge.
Rest easy Solingen blades are good. Send it out and get it honed up. And Welcome to SRP.
