This one should be like the solid straight bladed one without the replaceable blade. It may need the blade removed or not. To remove the blade lift up the lever with the jimps below the tang. You may need to remove the guard to do so. they made at least 3 models that I have seen. Look at the one without the blade you had.
Rotate the guard to above the spine and it will slip off the toe end. The guard coverage is adjusted by turning the pivot hinges in and out. Hone as a regular straight. They have very good steel and do make a fine shave...with or without the guard! Bye the way, watch the heel when shaving that is a really sharp corner without the guard..(don't ask!!)
