Hi all,
I'm preparing to buy my first straight and get into shaving properly. I'm finding it so hard to find Dovo razors at the moment but I've identified the Bergischer Lowe as the one I'd like.
I've found two different BL's on Amazon Germany. I believe that one has wooden scales whilst one has buffalo horn scales. I just wanted someone to confirm this because I've haven't seen a BL with wooden scales anywhere else, I thought they only made them in horn?
Could someone clear this up?

There are a couple of other strange things about the linked razor if it is brand new stock. Besides never having seen a Bergisher Lowe with wooden scales, it is also missing the rubber piece normally seen on the tang and the price converted to dollars is just under $200.00. At that price it is about $100.00 to $150.00 lower than I have seen them listed for retail. It is a bit of a puzzle.

That's what I thought. I do quite like the look of the wood and I assumed the price difference was due to the lack of horn.
I've been offered a brand new BL with horn scales for $300. I want to take the offer up but it's proving a nightmare to get hold of the seller at the moment.
I'm really keen to get started. I'm 22 and I started shaving with a brush and cream about a week after I started shaving (I hated the stuff that came in a can). Since then I've been using a Mach 3 and now a Fusion. To me this seems like one of the best razors out there (correct me if I'm wrong) and I figure it's best to buy a great razor early, than have to get one later anyway.
Stick with the horn, far more traditional, less maintenance and the wood is just unusual for this model.
