Picked up a new Heljestrand
So I picked up this Hel. MK no. 4 the other day from the antique store. Just wondering if there is anything unusual about them. It looks pretty clean and has a pretty nice edge on it. I couldn't find the no. 4 in the database so I thought I would probe some of you experts for any info (approx. age stuff like that). Pics with box attached. Thanks

Rule of thumb----- these are fine blades. I can't really tell from your pics, but in picture # 1, is that a small crack or chip that I see, or just some small pitting on the edge?

Just some pitting, the picture really emphasizes it. I haven't really got heavy into polishing it yet either.

'Checked Mannah's site - no Heljes.
I've had 2, both were outstanding shavers, but small for size xl hands. I think of them as having the shave quality of the MK series (more fancy), but less glitz.

Heljestrand razors are some of the best razors around, the MK series are especially great razors.
I wouldn't say that there's anything unusual about it. It was made in Eskilstuna, Sweden by C.V Heljestrand.
Models MK 31, 32, 33 and 134 are the most sought after if I'm not mistaken.
Btw, IIRC "MK" is short for 'Mästerlig kvalitet' which means roughly 'masterly quality'.

I agree Heljestrand razors are some of the best. I have a 4 and it is a great shaver and a couple of others.
Do you know which are considered better, "masterly" or "best"?

"Masterly" are considered to be the better ones but "best" are almost if not in fact as good as the MKs. Originally Posted by TucoRamirez
