The one that got away.... But not this time! =] [ Blue Wonder Razor, pics incl.]

Hey guys, I just won this recently on the bay, this was the same razor that I was trying to win as my first razor purchase back when I joined at the end of last year, sadly I just missed out on it so this time when I saw it again I just had to have it, might have paid a little more than I should've but I'm happy that I got it. I haven't really heard much about the brand though I've heard some say that they are great shavers but I'm not sure if it's the same one as this.
anyway if anyone's familiar or have any comments I'd like to hear =] cheers.

Well I appreciate very much that you left it alone =] I had high hopes of getting it for sub $50 in the days leading up to the finish but those hopes got shattered lol. I think what I paid was reasonable though I saw one in not as good cond. go for more pretty recently

I've never had one of that particular model but it looks first rate in build and condition. What intrigues me with razors marked like that one is the "Sheffield Steel, Forged and Real Hollow Ground in Germany", as a marketing strategy. At the time that was made, or at least sometime before, Sheffield steel was the 'stuff' and I guess the public perception must have been that 'forged and ground in Germany' was a superior product ?

I've seen other high quality blades from that era and more recently with a similar bit of info stamped on the blade or on the box. I seem to recall reading, maybe in Robert A Doyle's book, that the Germans perfected hollow grinding before anyone else. Anyway, nice score.

Which book is that? What's a good book you'd recommend if I was going to get just one book on razors?

Yep sorry Paul, I have been wanting one of them for ages, if I see another one I'll definitely give you a heads up! since my bank balance is 0 now and I'm constantly lurking ebay anyway probably have over 1000 items in different lists on my account.
