The finished San Mai Double Mastro Livi Carbon Damascus billet with a beautiful twisted pattern.
From this billet Mastro Livi will make my razor!
Great posts! Keep em coming!
Gentlemen,
last night I went to Mastro Livi workshop after having finally made my decision about the last specifications for my new Mastro Livi razor. It was not that easy to make such a decision, but at the end I decided for a barber's notch point and an ergonomic shank and tang, something Mastro Livi and I created while discussing about my new razor. Of course, Mastro's advices and insights have been very important and fundamental.
So far, it is going to be an ergonomic straight razor made of a double Mastro Livi Carbon Damascus steel San Mai, Full Hollow. For the moment, Mastro Livi cut and finished grinding the blade only: as it was quite late, we decided to call it a day. He will probably finish making my new razor next Saturday. Can't wait!

The blade is cut. This is how it looked after the first grinding. Isn't the Damascus pattern beautiful?
Of course, this is going to change with the following grindings
