Weekend's finds with questions: Rodgers, Wade & Butcher, Wostenholm

I'm still pretty new to the straight razor world, but I saw this nice 6/8 semi-wedge Joseph Rodgers and Son, and it followed me home. Are these horn scales? I've been looking for some blades to make new scales for, but should I save these instead? One of them has been repaired.

He also had this Wade & Butcher. I decided to leave it, since the blade looked like it was butchered pretty badly. I thought I'd bring a picture in case you guys think it's worth a second look.

The last one is this little Geo Wostenholm and Son. It looks to be in really nice shape, but the blade is pretty narrow. I left that guy there, too.

The scales on the Rodgers are horn, if you can live with the repair if its holding strong i personally would leave it. Definately needs a good cleaning on the blade and scales. Some MAAS or mothers metal polish would do wonder on this razor.

I happen to have some Mother's mag and aluminum polish, so I had a go at it. For the scales, I used WD-40 and 800 grit w/d paper. I didn't want to get too crazy, just make it look nice. Going to see if I can get my hands on some neatsfoot oil.

For now, I'm pleased with the results.

If there are no real problems with that little Geo Wostenholm and Son and the price is right you might want to snag it up.

They are great shavers {and I am a sucker for the shoulder less design} plus it looks to be in great shape with light and even hone wear.

I would snag the Wade and Butcher also.
Doesn't look like there is and rust on the shaving edge.
You can ALWAYS sand the blade down to get it looking better.
If you don't mind it not being a mirror polish on it then I would grab it if it were cheap enough.
That is just me though... YMMV. :)

Thanks for the advice. The W&B didn't show any rust, but man was it poorly honed. The heel was a solid 1/8" narrower than the toe. It'd probably need a whole regrind. I'll have to see what he wants for it.
