This one I did in Ivory several yrs ago,I think most natural materials will take a set over time so stress may not be an issue.
Blade has been honed many times with never an issue.

Dovo Best Quality razors do not have a third pin but they do incorporate some sort of plastic rest in between the scales. The thang, shank (or whatever you feel like calling it) seems to rest on it in the closed position. Based on this, I believe there might be an actual functionality and purpose for a third pin. JMHO.

The middle pin do make the razor feel more "worked", some might have put it there to show it's a high class razors, others to try to pass as one.
I just love the aesthetics of a 3 pin straight razor. Most of my vintage Puma's have them.
