Well I got in contact with the company I bought it from, really great people, the guy said he was surprised but knew straight away it was a manufacturing fault. He has discounted me for it and paid shipping on the return of the broken one, and shipped a knew one up. Plus on a bonus, after reading through the Ebay 101 thread, I found a razor going cheap and seems to be in pretty good nick, so it will be my first restoration project. This hobby is so exiting!
You couldn't ask for better service than that. Nice to see it all worked out.

Thats great, hope all is well next time around.
Surely the toe was catching not the heel ?
It's possibly some factory defect but heavy stropping whilst holding the scales & not the tang will do it also.
That razor looked like it was subject to acid rain :o Always wipe & oil a razor after handling or even attempting arm hair tests. Some of us have acidic body chemistry which of course is bad for carbon steel.
For polish I use Autosol &/or Mother's mag polish. For oil & WD40 type jobs I use Inox. Inox is available any where short of Woolies. Repco & Bunnies will have it for sure as will most hardwares . It is great & will not wash off in water & there is even a food grade version available.
Already sorted thanks onimaru, it was the heel, it was the way it was hinged, and thats why its being replaced. I hadnt touched it, I didnt even open it up fully, it was only when I went to get it honed and we opened it the first time to just before straight out it broke.
Really hard to visualise such a bad warp but glad you got it sorted.
I dont have that much experience with them to know if that was that bad, im not sure it it was a bad warp or just out of alignment. Thanks heaps.
Sounds (and looks) to me as though that razor was not new. Hard to say for sure though, but I've never seen or heard of a new Dovo in that sort of condition. But I suppose it can happen.
Just FYI next time there are many local places to buy new Dovos in SE QLD if that's what you are after.
James.
Thanks James. The box was sealed, I bought it from Himage so still aussie. The guy from Himage was really good about it, asked if it was still sealed and all that, was quite shocked too.
