Hey guys. I am looking for a decent Wade and Butcher Wedge barber notch and will really appreciate comments on two options below. The first one is in the process of rescaling by the current owner and the second one is sold as is. Is it possible to live with the pitting on the second one without compromising the shavability of the razor? Is the hone wear too bad on the first one? Thank you! Me newbie appreciates your help:)

Others will chime in as to condition,but pls, whatever you have done,DO NOT go with off the wall scales on a classic Razor,JMO
If the pitting isn't deep and in the bevel it is strictly a cosmetic issue. The obvious solution to your dilemma is to buy both of them. :shrug:

Nope. Gonna have to side with Pixel on this one. Don't go for the one with those crazy, one-off scales. Ewwww. Have some dignity, man! :)
I agree. Go with either black or white horn scales, or some nice natural color wood ones. I just decided to go with some marblewood ones for mine (it looks exactly like yours, Hollow Ground Celebrated razor). Whatever blade you choose, best of luck!
The problem is that I can't see the actual razor and have to decided based on the photos. So I am wondering if the pitting on this photo looks severe enough to avoid buying the razor.Quote:

As far as the other, you can have whatever type of scales put on and you don't have to use those ugly things. I like to stay with the same type as would have been on the blade when it was made. Horn would be my guess but YMMV.
