11/16 or 6/8
Yesterday I received a 5/8 wedge for restoration.
It looked so puny compared to my other razors that I decided to check with a caliper.
It was indeed 5/8.
Turns out that my other 2 razors (a full hollow and a frameback) are 11/16 measured from the edge to the center of the spine, or 6/8 when measured from edge to the edge of the spine.
So are they 11/16s or 6/8s?

I've got several razors with very deep spines (>1/8"), and I personally think the edge-to-back of spine measurement is misleading. I prefer measuring from size of the grind (the edge to the hone line on the spine), and going with the nearest eighth - for a given grind this correlates with the size of the grinding wheel the manufacturer used. I've got several razors whose manufacturer-stamped size is too small if you go with the edge-to-back of spine scheme, but measuring the grind width gives you the manufacturer's size. Some of the swedish framebacks have 1/4" or more of "frame", and the TI Egyptian Palmwood and Pierre Thiers LE both have deep diamond-shaped spines that add 1/8 or more to the width of the razor. I've also got a Wostenholm "Celebrated" with a similar diamond spine, it's a 5/8 wedge with an extra 3/16" of spine stuck on the back.
