    Default Filarmonica ID

    hi there,

I have been scouring the forum and think (I'll probably regret saying this) I may have one of the few filarmonica questions that has yet to be discussed.

I am wondering if any of these razors were made without any markings on the scales?

I know the tang and blade often have variations but am guessing the scales could easilly be replaced with generic ones. I have seen some posted photos with no prints or scale markings but was wondering if these examples were as manufactured

    thanks heaps

    Dan

I don't think I have ever seen a Filarmonica with absolutely no markings on the scales that were in original condition.
Out of the few dozens I have, all have some kind of marking on them.
That doesn't say much though, other than that I have been rather specific in what i have bought/bid on..

Could you perhaps link us to the photos you have seen?
That would probably tell us more on the subject.

This one of mine has original scales without markings.
Made by Filarmonica, but produced for a company called Mitchel Mogal, who were Optical goods wholesalers in America

I'm not questioning you at all, but how can you tell for certain?

+1 How could you be sure ? OTOH, the last batch that Classic sold ...... I cannot remember if the scales were marked with the harp or not ? I'm not familiar with all of the vintage Fillys though. All of those I've had or remember seeing had marked scales.

some of the filarmonica's i have received and kept original appear to have factory pinning. none are the classic shaving variants. here is an old pics of some of them, since they are currently in "storage" aka somewhere in my closet..

    the ones without logos include (4,1) (6,1) (4,2) (7,2).. i can't remember if (5,2), and (6,2) had logos, but i don't think so.
