Info on Boker and Eyre/Greaves
I just introduced myself to a few of you folks in the "Intro" forum since I'm a newbie around here, but I wanted to see if anyone could give me a bit of info on the two razors I bought today. The brands appear to be good based on what everyone around here says (Boker and Eyre/Late Greaves), but I'm having a hard time finding much of any kind of information on the Eyre/Greaves razor. Neither blade is sharp enough to shave with, so I'm either going to send it off to have a professional do it or, since I just bought a barber's honing stone, I might try to do it myself (on at least one of them). For $25 apiece, I assume that these were good buys, but, if anyone happens to have any information on them (particularly whether they are worth trying to shave with and whether, based on the photos, I would be better off trying to replace the scales since they're in a bit of disrepair (though not necessarily unusable)). Also, I can't really tell whether these blades are wedges, hollows, or what. If you happen to be able to tell that would be great (since I know a lot of pros won't hone a full wedge without a significant upcharge). Thanks in advance! (Also, I posted a lot of pictures, so, if there happens to be a picture limit on here, just let me know. I'll be happy to remove them if so.)
