You can re-glue the labels after the stone is clean and varnish over to seal the sides. I use craft store water based varnish. Or save them.

Wet the stone and peel off the label with a single edge razor blade. Save it and hose the stone down with oven cleaner, then an over night soak and see where you are after 24 hours.
