I have a new honing student early in AM and so a shave this eve.
Razor: Schick E-2
Soap: Vintage Williams
Brush: Ever Ready
Splash: NOS Walgreen's Bay Rum
The Day? Clear and cold. The Shave? A very pleasant shave. With a modern blade the old Schick will take its place alongside most any modern razor for a close smooth shave.

The E-2 was the last of the openable, for cleaning, razors till the Hydromagic series 20 years later.

Razor: Tom Harrison Lion Auctioneer full hollow of german make
Brush: Whipped dog black badger
Soap: Colonel Conk Amber

Preshave: my typical water and lather application and letting sit 3 to 5 minutes and then wiping off qnd relathering
Shave: Three passes on face wtg xtg atg and two passes wtg atg on neck
Post shave: cold water and my homemade vinegar aftershave.

This is the second time I've used this razor since I honed it (first razor I've personally honed) and boy did she get up and dance this time. A little bit of the new wore off with the extra usage and stropping so the shave was super easy and smooth. I can't feel stubble in most of the places I can usually feel it and I've been learning recently to better engage the square point on the razor.

The Lion Auctioneer has always been my best shaver and although my new J.A. Henckells french point is beautiful and a fantastic shaver it's almost impossible for me to tell which shave's better... which I consider a good problem to have.

Been having a bit of a problem with the Conk soap as I'm used to Bald Frog so I have a tendency to add too much water to conk. But still has a great smell and is really pretty decent lather. However it's still hard to beat Bald Frog's Arabian spice.

all in all the best shave since I've honed up the razors though.

Is it my imagination, or do straight razors deliver closer shaves than DE's? Today's the second time I've noticed my skin's much smoother than what it was with DE's. Perhaps it's just a psychological thing. Hmm.
