Today is the 70th Anniversary of the Allied Invasion of Fortress Europe on the beaches of Normandy, so today's shave is dedicated to my Dad, who fought in the hedgrows of Normandy, through the Hurtgen Forest, and on to the Ardennes, which the Allies thought a quiet front for these units to recover a bit, and lick their wounds before the final push into Germany. Just before Christmas, 1944, Dad found himself in the middle of the Ardennes Offensive. He was lucky enough to survive the War.
Some may notice the Keystone arm patch, signifying the 28th Infantry Division, known to the Germans as "The Bloody Bucket" because of it's shape. Dad's unit was the 28th Infantry Division, 110th Infantry Regiment, I Company, under the command of General Norman "Dutch" Cota.
How these men survived all that they faced, is beyond me ... Truly the "Finest Generation..."

Some of the fiercest fighting in human history. You are justifiably proud of your dad. I've had the pleasure to know many veterans of the D-Day beach landings and subsequent fighting through France and Belgium, and have been impressed to a man with their courage and quiet humility.

I'll bet your dad was a fine man, and I'm grateful for his sacrafice and service.

A remarkable shave with the LeCoultre frameback, these are sure a treat to shave with. For me they are a tad bit clumsy to strop, but a small price to pay for the results you get! The Tabac lineup is awesome and has SWMBO approval so after the day spent bike riding with the family, life is good.

Very nice, the French framebacks are my favorite of the smaller blades and the framebacks, I agree, they provide a stellar shaving experience.

One of the things I love about this thread, you get great ideas for new razors to try and reminders to bring out your favorites - French frameback SOTD for me tomorrow!
