Should have waited till ya got back from the dentist. Nothing better than a good challenge... Plus side, what a smooth shave you'd think your were having, while your ear is laying in the sink...Har!!

I have been thinking about straight shaving again and giving it another go so after six months or so of just DE shaving. Now I didn't give it up cause I didn't like it, I gave it up cause of everyone telling me that I needed this and that now like a full progression of six or stones or more plus a flattening stone plus this high end strop, etc. etc. so you get my point. Yeah, I was thinking that my $30 razor was going to cost me $300+ in stones, $100+ in strops, a barber's hone, etc. then you could or should get this jnat (another couple hundred) and try it. Then you gotta get this razor...so yeah couldn't do that so I decided to not pursue it. Anyway, I seen a video on maintaining/ refreshing that only required two stones and that got me thinking about giving it another go. Unfortunately, most of the stuff I had picked during that time was sold or traded off except for a straight or two so I will have to find me a strop and maybe a couple of stones and I will be all set.
I shaved Friday with a Torrey straight and four days of growth. I used Cella and my Tweezerman brush to face lather as usual. I don't own any strop or anything so I was hoping the straight was still sharp enough to get the job done, which I would say was 50/50. It wasn't dull but probably could have use a touchup or stropping prior to use.
I was just happy that I didn't cut/nick myself at all and did two full passes and a cleanup pass so like three passes. I didn't get BBS and didn't expect too, I was just glad that I somewhat remembered how to use it and like I said, no cuts or nicks. It felt good to use one again and I will do it again but with less growth so hopefully I can figure out if the razor is sharp or needs some work!
Here is a pic or two of the Torrey I have. It is a 5/8's with a barber's notch. Nothing fancy but works okay. I would like to get a 6/8's of some sorts someday as my main razor but I have no clue on what yet so I will have to get some recommendations later on but I don't want to spend alot.
Thx.
