Wonder if Target will get that in as well?
I quess I need to stop in a see if they have
it. While I'm at it but more pre/post and soap,
in the event they quit selling it.

-wilkinson brush (since I'm in the process of testing Colleen's samples, I'm using the same brush and the same lathering technique. can't wait to start using my new C&E)
-DD Satinedge
I'm getting ticked off with the Satinedge. It left my face raw. Today I'll try to re-hone it from scratch, starting with heavy pressure on the 4k. However, for now, I'm disappointed with Solingen steel and/or my inability to get it as sharp as Sheffield steel.

First ever shave with a real str8 after a year with a shavette:
a couple of hours honing out a nick in an old blade inherited two weeks ago
(no shower; too anxious)
stropping on a belt (expect a strop any day now)
cheap sythetic brush
williams mug soap
dominica bay rum
conclusion: i need to get the blade a little sharper (am gonna get a blade shave ready by a pro) and i need more practice maintaining an edge. i also think my skin needs to adjust. so it was, of course, less than ideal, but...
IT WAS THRILLING! a culmination of training and reading the valuable information on this site
My 4th shave with a straight.
I finally got the razor honed to pass the HHT with my beginners package of barberhones from Redtrader. I had shaved 3 days in a row with it and decided to take one day with my Gilette double-bladed. What a bad idea! My skin got really irritated and I had to take a day off from shaving because of razorburn and bumps. So I used the straight again:
Hot shower
Taylor's Sandalwood shave cream
Boar bristle brush borrowed from my father
Cheap strop from ebay
Garantie razor I restored and honed myself
Nivea for Men sensitive aftershave balm
Much better shave, and almost no irritation. I'm still working on my technique, especially in the neck area, but I get significantly less irritation from the straight, though the shave doesn't get as close.
Thanks SRP!

I honed the Satinedge to the point where I get no razor-burn, but it still gets snagged in denser growth. Earned me a small nick on the chin. However, at least now I know that the temper hasn't been ruined by the fire. I'll set it aside now and let it sit until I get the new scales and the coticle. Switching exclusively to TEW until then. It has a more substantial blade, so it's better in heavy-bearded areas.

gilette fusion crapola
My first shave with the c&e brush and I wasn't disappointed. The Wilkinson brush has been relegated to applying crappy soap to soften up my beard while I strop. The Cavendish Black doesn't irritate my skin like it did the first time I used it. I guess my skin got used to it. In any case, it's a superior performer and I intend on using it as long as it lasts. My TEW gave me a great shave, as usual. Too lazy for a 2-tiered aftershave routine so I just squirted some of that gilette stuff. Can't wait for my Dominica Bay Rum to arrive. It should get here any day now.
