Fiancee is waffling on whether she likes this a/s or not. Some days she does, some she doesn't. I like it a lot but she keeps changing her vote :)
The cheap brush I have works great for hard soaps but it's a dog for creams.
Once again, the black king makes me go "oooh" and gives me every bit as good a shave as my "top" razors (revisor, dubl duck, W&B etc) without being all flashy. Between this razor, the tuckmar and the gencos I'm becoming a big fan of american-made razors.

Penhaligon Blenheim Bouquet
The little Neistrom shaves surprisingly well indeed. It doesn't quite tackle my goatee area with the aplomb of my 7/8ths and 8/8ths blades, but it was surprisingly close. It's plenty sharp enough, but the lower mass made the blade more prone to submarining. It made it though the shave without needing some stropping which is a feat only the Friodur's have pulled off so far.
I don't know if this is common for the sub-5/8ths blades, but this thing is like a 9/10ths scale razor, it's very petite in all dimensions -- the blade is only 2 3/4 inches long, and from tip to tail is just over 5 inches.

I was pleasantly surprised at how quick this shave went this morning. I did get a small nick, but that's typical when I use cream (except for cremo-cream). If only I didn't love the smell of Grafton so much!

Had a few "moments of regret" (still need a japanese word for that time when you're waiting for the blood to flow) on the left side, I was valiantly trying to make myself use my left hand. First time I've nicked myself in a couple of weeks. GREAT shaver though, love this little genco. It's functional, plain and utilitarian without any fancy scales or showy stuff but shaves like a monster.

Standard routine...
-washed the face
-el cheapo wilkinson brush/soap prep
-lathered up with the C&E BB and CH-CB
-my beloved Taylor's Eye Witness 6/8
-DBR
Gary, you just described my Taylor. It doesn't look like much, there's even some minor pitting on it, full hollow but not a singer, black plastic scales and it shaves like you wouldn't believe it. On top of that, this was 2 days after I shaved with a DE, so I experienced a feeling of rapture once I finished.. I became a changed man as soon as I went straight, and it's good to remind myself from time to time :)Quote:
