Strop: Illinois 835
Brush: Comoy Badger
Soap: Proraso
Razor: Joseph Rodgers 6/8
Astringent: Thayer's Cucumber Witch Hazel
A/S: David Craig Bay Rum
This was probably the first shave this razor has seen in decades. Its just been restored and I honed it up last night. Similar to what Rene said recently, I like to use a particular routine when test shaving a new edge to eliminate the variables and assess the blade. For me it is 2 passes, Proraso, and preferably a 2 day growth.
Result: Very nice edge on it. Near BBS after 2 passes, but I think I can get a little more out of it. Might take it back for a few more laps tomorrow night. The better I get at honing the more fussy I'm getting about my edges.:gaah:
Thanks for all the great post boys
