Result: Two new products broke into the rotation today. The razor comes from Hungary, where I'd heard great things about Master Flaschner. It lived up to its hype! It's a nice, big blade with a great feel in the hand. This 7/8 actually measures in at 29/32, yet it feels comfortable and nimble in the hand. I honed it this weekend on my Chosera 1-5-10 and then finished it using my Oozuku Suita running through a progression of botan, tenjou, koma and tomonagura slurries (light) before finishing with 100 laps of water only. It took on a phenomenally sharp and butter smooth edge. The other newbie is a test sample of AlRaz's latest experiment in italian style hard soaps. His Almond Sapone has a consistency similar to that of Proraso in the bowl. My first crack at bowl lathering did not go as well as I'd hoped. It was simply very difficult to load enough soap from the small sample container. So, I switched to face lathering, and the lather built wonderfully on my face. The scent was intoxicatingly sweet almond. The lather felt great, so I tackled my weekend's growth of hair. The sap one performed very well. Cushion was not as good as other Bomb products, but the slickness was so intense that I had a hard time stretching my skin in places! After two passes, I was left sticky smooth... I wrapped it all up with some known quantities, including the beautiful Sigilli Athunis vetiver. What a way to start the week!!!
