Hallelujah! Great shave after a week of tiptoeing about with the Feather over a sink that kept me 3 feet from the mirror and lights that (while parsimonious with the electricity) did little to illuminate my face.
It looks like you gentlemen created separate threads at the same time lol. They've been merged. As for me, I'm considering a day of rest as I've done a 4-passer yesterday and have nothing to look good for today.

Just finished a good shave. Decided to forego my best shavers and test shave some blades. First pass with JE 7/8 was almost OK but this one still needs work on the hones. 1 small nick. Second pass with the Beau was really nice, it is much sharper than the frameback but still needs hone work. No nicks.
I was hoping that the Elliot 7/8 would be better, as it is my premier frameback. Also, hoped that the Brummel would be worse so that I could sell it. I am not sure if I should be glad or sad, but the Brummel seems to be a keeper for now, despite its kitchy looks (might need to sell a Goldedge to keep it!) Very possibly joining my top 5 after some work but I also have many razors I haven't tested. Isn't this fun :D
But the bomb for the night was the Rooney Meduim Super. Is it soft? Yes, it is. Do I like it? No. I LOVE it. Most decadent brush I have tried so far. Held mucho water, whipped tons of foam with the favorite Tabac, kept heat very well. Just great on my face. I am scared, as the next brush needs to be either a custom handle, a Rooney Finest, or some ivory / horn big name piece such as Plisson / Simpson PJ... And these cost a bunch :cry: Honestly, can't imagine what more I can get in a brush than my Super, but Michael here says his $200 Finest is worth every penny, and Lynn endorsed one... Can it be twice better than my Super? And, what if it is, indeed? Nevertheles, I think I can avoid SBAD: tried many brushes but do not feel a need to keep anything than the Super and a Burma Shave. But if the Super fails at some point, it might be fun time getting one of the truly premium brushes...

The friodur isn't quite ready, but the shave wasn't bad considering.
Izlat, if your tastes in brushes run to "decadently soft" then the Rooney finest probably isn't for you -- while the tips are like velvet, nonetheless it's a pretty stiff brush. I'm planning on picking up a style 3 medium finest for use with creams, and I'm curious how that one will compare. Presumably it won't feel quite as stiff since the bristle length is longer.

Honestly, I did not expect to like the Super as much - I thought I'd stick with boar, but, for some reason, I had a change of heart and am adopting the Super as my daily brush. I'd prefer stiffer but it's still very nice for me (the best I have had) and makes for a great overall experience.
Now, the really scary part is that I did indeed dreamt about finding a nice set of silver steels (antique) with malachite handles (fixed, not the usual scales with pivot pin). Man, was I excited to find this set!!! They had different carvings in the handles and looked drop dead gorgeous!

Once I nixed my crappy specimen of a coticule and finished on the Norton, I got much better results from the Sprock. A very clean shave only limited by the fact that my whole rotation was in need of a touchup so my face wasn't up to par. It needs a day of rest.

Used this razor for the first time. I bought it several months back and just honed it. WOW! First pass just glided down my cheek. Although a wedge it has a very slight concave cross section. It feels different from a full hollow but it's really nice. I think this'll go into the regular rotation. Maybe I'll make this my Sunday evening shaver. :tu

This is one of my Lynn honed benchmark razors, gave me an easy close shave and showed me that I have a way to go yet with honing my own.
Today it was T&H 1805 cream and Genco Grant. The scent is still there, eclipsing the DBR. This time around on the hones, the Genco finally performed the way it's supposed to. It gave me its smoothest shave ever, to easily rival the Tonsorial Gem. The coticule is getting relegated to sharpening kitchen knives :D
I didn't shave today but had a go with the Rooney Super and C&E Nomad - just for fun. Filled the whole bathroom with delightful scent, I loved it... if only it did not irritate my skin because I still take too long to shave :rant:
On the other hand, taking a long time to shave is quite enjoyable :D
Now I am sitting in my office, trying to decide what razor I'll use tonight :D
I am leaning towards the round 8/8 Filarmonica, but the 7/8 Satinedge spike gave me such a close, if a bit scary, shave last time... This Duck is like a rollercoaster when you were a kid - a lttle scary at times but very exciting... I also need to figure out the soap / cream...

Ivo, if you used the Nomad soap, it dries too quickly for ME to complete a pass and I can't see myself shaving much quicker without injuring myself, EVER. However, I don't have the same problem with the C&E Sweet Almond Oil CREAM.

Good shave this evening as my Genco is one of my favorite shavers. Unfortunately I noticed what I'm hoping is not a crack in the blade. :cry: It's a line about a quarter inch long running parallel to and a third of the way back from the edge. I don't have a magnifier on hand so I'm not certain and I'm hoping it's just a deep scratch.
I have a similar crack on my G. Butler but it didn't affect the function of the blade.

3 passes, followed by a hot towel. And now the great trick: I tend to get some razorburn under the jawline, so i smeared some PREP on it (the stuff is used to treat all kind of skinconditions, like sunburn, razorburn etc.). After that I again took the razor and shaved (without any lathering, just using the PREP) the difficult areas. With a BBS as result. :tu

Great shave from the TI. It took a keen edge very easily, and is the only sheffield steel razor I own that doesn't need stropping mid-shave. Whatever TI does with their lead-hardening process really does the trick.
Despite Classic's marketing copy, it's not really a "singing" full hollow, mine is definitely half-ground; it's possible that there's a fair bit of variation between the various blades, however. Mine is a smiling blade with spike point and a barber's notch, and with beautiful blond/black horn scales. It looks and feels like an old 1800's vintage razor, which is basically what it is, but without the rust and other issues. The curved spine is very strange, and the razor feels wierd on the hone and strop though it doesn't seem to cause any problems.
I'm not sure that it's really worth the coin, but it's definitely a special razor and is easily the equal of my favorite 7/8 Heljestrand and 7/8 Friodur.

The badger brush felt luxurious after a week with the Omega Boar, it's nice to enjoy a good shave at home.
