Well, some good news today, Bailey’s x-rays came back all clear :D The downside is that his port is infected and needs to come out, so he’s staying in for an operation tonight. When the wife rang me to let me know he was going to have another operation I was like, Oh, OK, as if it’s nothing. It’s funny how things like that can get run-of-the-mill.
This morning’s shave was with the Burrell. It performed admirably; but I nicked my strop AGAIN! Twice in two weeks and only three times in almost a year! Obviously I’m not thinking. I think there’s a blurry line between ‘meditative stropping’ and day dreaming.
Talking of daydreaming, I bought a bottle of Rekorderlig Pear Cider tonight from Sweden. Absolutely wonderful. It says to serve it chilled over ice but I had mine at room temperature tonight. It might also be nice warmed? Of course it’s coming in to Winter here, though the days have been beautifully sunny, and the warm-yellow-golden light in the mornings has been heavenly. I was daydreaming about drinking it on the front veranda on a warm summer's day...

I am glad your family returned home safely. My thoughts and prayers for their continued well being.
Good news on the clear X-ray. Kids are so much more resilient that older folks. The smile on his face is priceless.
Carl,
That is welcome news about Bailey, hope he whoops the port infection and all is well.
Warmest Regards,
Joe
Yeah, it is good news...There I went again, wasting time worrying about stuff that never happened. I think I've maybe wasted a third of my life worrying.
Thanks Joe, he's just going in to surgery now, I'm sure he'll be OK. God will do what God will do...
Yes, it is a happy day :-)
Razor: Frederick Reynolds Diamond Edge Razor
Prep: hot water, Barbasol
Brush: VDH Boar
Soap: Estoril Sports Line shave cream
A/S: witch hazel, Joop Homme
Result: BBS but slightly irritated
This is a great razor, but I'm still learning to be more diligent about every contact with my face when using it. I'm not sure if it's the smiling edge (probably) but this razor will bite at the slightest provocation.

Great news Bela and Carl! I'm very happy for you both.

Prep: Hot Shower/ Proraso pre-post creme
Brush: Thater 4125-2
Scuttle: G5
Soap: Mike's Natural Soap, Lemongrass/Eucalyptus
Razor: #14 J.A. Henckels 5/8" smiling blade in ivory scales
Post: Proraso AS/ Nivea Lotion unscented
Result: WOW! This was one fantastic shave! Got my new MNS Lemongrass/Eucalytus soap and I am totally in LOVE with this soap. The performance of a tallow based soap is always great, but the scent is other worldly. What a Great summer scent, citrusy and cool, wiped away effortlessly by the "velvet squeegee and combined with the Proraso, I am out the door and off to conquer the world!
Have a Great Thursday Gents!
