Quick in the shower shave since I am tired and had a sensational shave last night. Two passes leave me kinda smooth except in the problem area on my neck. I really enjoy shaving in the shower.

Wednesday
Nice shave with the Klas Törnblom this morning. I’m thinking of getting a new strop and using my Dovo canvas/leather strop as a pasted strop. I’ve never used a pasted strop.
Top Secret cream was excellent, as least while I’m awaiting my new soap from Madam Scoliodi. In the meantime, I ducked out at lunch time to The Shaver Shop to see what they had that may be new. I was meaning to get some Proraso After Shave if they had it; inspired by Baldy’s SOTD, but they didn’t have it so I got some Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn soap. I’ve put it in a little tiny mortar (as in mortar and pestle) bowl; it’s quite a small puck. Possibly I should have got one that comes in a bowl? My old fashioned scuttle was too shallow for it (unless I put it through a hand grinder and pressed it in) and the larger bowl I had allowed it to slop around a bit. I’ll use it on the morrow and do a SOTD review on it. I bet you are MAD with anticipation; aren’t you!
I’m sorry; the ‘Rekorderlig’ Apple and Blackcurrent cider from Mikael’s country has made me cheery and verbose…

No shave today.
I wish you gents a fantastic rest of the week. I will not be around, as I have tons of family coming into town to celebrate my sister's marriage. I'll be back next week with (hopefully) 3 or 4 new-to-me razors, providing the USPS cooperates.

-Today's Shave-
Prep: Warm Shower and Caswell-Massey Sandalwood Pre-shave Oil
Brush: Semogue 830
DE: Gillette
Razor: Zorrik
Cream: Caswell-Massey Sandalwood
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel
Post: Cold Towel and Skincado Combat-Ready Balm
A nice quick and easy shave today. I did not start using a DE until a month or so after using a straight. I finally got the Gillette nice and shiny so I decided to use it today. The Zorrik blades were given as a sampler. They were OK. I think I am leaning towards Derby's or 7 o'clocks now. What made this shave interesting was the copious amounts of lather that the Caswell-Massey produced today. I have not tried a lot of creams but this one has to be the densest I have tried. I treated it like a soap and really loaded the brush. It took a lot of water but the process yielded good results. I think the stiffness of the Semoque helped me load the cream. I could never do that with a Silvertip. Poor little fella. Have a good day all! Thanks for all pics!

I bought this one off ebay. It is a Frederick Reynolds and it was pretty rough. Straightened up the edge and polished out the scales.
It is also one of the first razors I've ever honed on synthetic stones. I stacked 4 layers of tape on it and went to town. It got SHARP.
That was several months ago. I shaved with it a couple of times and it was eating me up so I put it aside. Last night I was pretty scruffy and decided to
give it another try. It TOTALLY blew me away!. It just wiped the whiskers off. I guess my technique has improved.

It was a semi-vintage shave today! Just received some things in the mail today, a Donovan Blue Steel straight and this Slim Adjustable with a half used pack of Blue Blades. So I thought I'd try one out. This is my first time shaving with a 50+ year old blade. I have to say that it turned out nicely, not quite BBS, but a great shave nonetheless.

Thursday
A day off work today to take Bailey into hospital for blood tests, the dentist and a review. All is OK. I loved watching him play in the play room; he’s a very sociable boy. In the hospital canteen he waved to a bunch of doctors and nurses that came in and would NOT be ignored; he didn’t give up until they said hello.
The shave that started the day was with the new Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn soap I bought yesterday. I’m normally more of a cream guy, rather than a soap guy, but with my current obsession of staying away from Sodium Laurel Sulphates and the like soaps appear to be a better option. This soap is great. I haven’t had a lot of experience with shaving soap, so I’m no expert at them, but this lathered really easily. The puck is quite small, but it fitted into a little mortar bowl I had perfectly. The bowl may be a TAD small (some lather escapes) but it holds the puck nice and firmly; so no slopping around in the dish. I think it looks good too. I did consider a dish with a lid, and I still might, but maybe it isn’t necessary. After all, who ever puts hand soap in a bowl with a lid? My only criticism of this soap would be that it doesn’t have a strong scent; I like STRONG scents. Also, even though it’s apparently 99.9% natural (and I’m hoping that .1% isn’t pure poison) I don’t know what the ingredients actually are. This is more about my lack of knowledge than anything, though. For all I know Sodium Palm Kernelate might be growing wildly in my back yard, or on the mountaintops of Tibet, or might be gathered by kindly fishermen from the bottom of the Norwegian Fjords…

I'll have to Google what ever that bottle is. Whatever it is I want one...
Why thank you. I should point out that (as I wrote today to someone) it must be stated that, like Sergeant Schulze from that TV show 'Hogan's Heroes', I know nothing.
I agreed to have a go at writing or re-writing or whatever some stuff for the Wiki (Library) and so this honour was bestowed upon me (with all the responsibility it brings) to enable a balance in the cosmos. I'm keeping my User Title (plausibly implausible) so that that everyone knows I'm not a REAL mentor, I'm like one of those clown doctors like that have at the hospital...
:-)
Yeah! I didn't even think about them both being Swedish! :-)
What a beautiful looking razor zephyr, love the white scales and the blue wedge absolute stunner.
Jamie.

Results: Very nice relaxing 3 pass shave. Too bad I've got to ruin a great morning by spending the rest of the day at work :) I've been on an Arko kick this week. I'm not new to it but you know, this stuff is just plain old no BS, great shaving soap. It effortlessly produces gobs of lather and delivers a great shave every single time. No background today but I did play around with some overlays, I call this one Panama Ultra Fina.

I triedl something stupid with my VDH brush yesterday and ended up with it being very oily. I thought I got the oil out, but it still seemed oily this morning and knocked down any lather that I managed to start to build. I already had Barbasol on my face for preshave prep, so I just went with it. I haven't tried that since my first attempts with a straight. It went better than that, actually the result was decent. The razor felt very dry I I didn't try a touch up pass. All in all it was acceptable.
