Thursday
Great shave with the Burrell this morning; I’m really getting used to using a shaving soap rather than a cream. I might try Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap next, but only if it doesn’t contain ‘nasties’. Either that or Mme Scodioli ‘Fiji Mermaid’ soap, with a shaving mug, though I do like the look of MWF in the container; it’d look very mice on my soon to be got antique wash stand.
Nothing off topic to report today, except that it’s the Winter Equinox, cause for celebration, really, it’s starting to become a wet, cold winter. I hate winter. I do. I hate it.
[EDIT] Didn't go with either soaps mentioned above, just bought some 'Mike's Natural Soaps' in Pine and Cedarwood. The tin looks really cool and old fashioned and on the page Mike says he's a wet shaver, so I guess he knows what works :-)

Nothing like an absolute top shelf shave on a Thursday morning to celebrate the first true day of Summer. If ever there was a summer scent lineup, this would be it! The citrusy scent of the AdP filled the den as I whipped up the incredible lather. The EPBD wiped away what little stubble I had, and then the Balsamo renewed the citrus scent. The Ferfæn is such an interestingly wonderful fragrance. The verbena in it gives it a citrus smell, even though there is no citrus in the notes.
Have a great day, gentlemen!
Thanks Chris. I Googled the ingredients and while I know I'm getting pedantic about this, a nice little niche is always fun. So I'm leaning towards really comprehensible ingredients. I've started using soaps that are really natural. That's just my foible and want. I started my niche for vintage cufflinks (when that was my foible and want) with images of dogs. One needs a niche, else one is spread too thin...
It's arguable that I'm unnaturally concerned about harmful ingredients at the moment. Maybe my current focus on early 19th c American Poets and authors is to blame...

Brush: VDH Boar
Soap: Bald Frog Arabian Hooka
A/S: witch hazel, Joop Homme

Prep: Brisk 25 minute run, Phillies Titan, cool shower
Razor: Gem Micromatic Open Comb
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Arko Shavestick
AS: Skin Bracer
Finish: Clubman Bay Rum
Results: Fantastic, Catfish Belly Smooth shave. Gentlemen, this razor is indeed the founder of the feast. My first real razor, I picked it up in the spring of 2006 just because I had never seen one. At the time, I was still in my post-military, I'll never shave again phase and was rocking a full beard (a la Bobo the homeless man.) About a year later, having located blades for this thing locally, curiousity was killing me so away I went. Who could have predicted that would be the start of my traditional wetshaving insanity. The rest, as they say, is history
