Wednesday
Not really a SOTD, as I didn’t have a shave today. More of a SOTDTB (Shave Of The Day To Be).
The first picture is what I’m taking camping shaving wise.
I have considered long and hard what to take; from considering several razors (mainly to use as a talking piece) to, basically, this, as pictured.
My first time shaving away from home since I started SR shaving a year ago or so. I did consider going sans aftershave, but couldn’t do it. I'm sorry. I just couldn't.
The mirror is from my Australian army camo kit, last used around ’94-ish. It’s plastic, and seems to magnify when placed in ‘portrait’ mode and is normal in ‘landscape’. A small piece of ‘blu tac’ will keep it upright.
Arko is a clear choice. Have you ever tried it as a shampoo? It works well, at least on my short hair; just rub it in a bit and there it is. Plus you can rub it on a washcloth to use as a body soap. The guy on the wrapper gives me the creeps a bit, though. I really don’t want people [guys] smiling at me like that when I’m in the shower. And raising one eyebrow.
The razor case is a fountain pen box. I decided on the De Pews as I feel I don’t want a STUPID-SHARP razor, just a sharp razor. Professional First Aid may be hours away; I’d rather err on the side of caution, CBS is not necessarily needed when camping.
I intend to shave where the arrow indicates (in the second photo). The photos were taken several years ago. The kids (on the spot marked by the arrow, and now 21 and 14) look pissed off because they are (in the third photo). Aaron kept saying it was stupid. And what if we fell? I explained that I was great and powerful, and had been in the army for a decade, and therefore was great and powerful and didn’t really care less what mum might say.
I trust my fellow Shave Of The Dayians will allow my long post and multiple pics considering I shall be absent for a few days pushing the SOTD limits beyond fear and reason.
If thou dost not hear from me again knowest that I tumbled into the Great Southern Ocean, while shaving, with a De Pews…
