Daaaaang! Did I say the C-MON was my best shaver yesterday? Well, I have at least two 'best shavers' now. I'm about 60% done with the first pass and I'm saying to myself, "Wow, this Dovo is the RIGHT blade!" The first WTG was a DFS, and that's usually what tells me how meticulous I can be on the ATG second pass. Well, I got an ATG under the lower lip and an XTG over the chin that I would not have DARED two weeks ago. Closest shave yet - even on the chin and upper lip - and so close to perfect that I wouldn't want to have to live on the difference.
I got a few more samples in the mail yesterday from The Shave Den. Oh, yeah, can't remember who the devotee was that convinced me to try Musgo Real, but THANKS anyway; I'm sold! Definitely ordering the big bottles when these samples run out. 'SMANLY!

Missile 7/8 Tokyo frameback razor - New Forest High Mountain Badger brush - Harris Lavender SS - cold water splash - Thayers Green resplash - L'Oreal asb - hot towel - Harris Arlington AS
A very pleasant shave, in silence, for a change... No music, just the scraping sound of the blade killing whiskers. A fine blade, though on the small side for my taste. Clean in two.

Whippeddog 22mm Silvertip
Thayer's Witch Hazel w/ Lemon
Not quite as smooth of a shave as I've been getting. I don't know if it's that I don't usually shave multiple days in a row, the Maca Root instead of Proraso, or I just had bad technique today. Oh well still a DFS with a small amount of discomfort.
With regard to Lilac Vegetal, there seems to be two schools of thought, Love It or Hate It. The latter school often compares the smell to urinal cakes, public restrooms, cat piss etc. I myself am part of the Love It school, in fact it might be my favorite variant in the Clubman/Pinaud lineup. While I've never identified the bottle aroma with any of the aforementioned offensive smells, I will say that it does smell better after a brief dry down that it does from the bottle. Any other Lilac Vegetarians care to weigh in?
decided to use my freshly reborn W&B and my new Gillette Slim Adjustable this evening .

Have a Great Friday Gents!
What a bunch of outstanding pics my friends, loving the Mansulu Bill!

Your Filarmonica in the photo is very pretty. Looks like a harp on the handle.
Lots of the history can be found here on SRP and on the web.
Fortunately my #14 has a its logo intact with original paint and still looks pristine.
Thanks,
Paul

I am always surprised when I revisit this shaving system. The Feather Blades are just so sharp. I retired this one today after 10 shaves.....just because the blade was beginning to discolour slightly. A 2 pass BBS:D

Prep - None
Strop - 3 inch bridle leather/hard felt
Brush - Simpsons QE II Jubilee Manchurian badger
Soap - DR Harris "Arlington" puck
Razor - Edward Smiths Celebrated Hollow Ground
Post - Alum block followed with Thayers witch hazel
A smooth and close cold water face lathered shave. Best performance yet from this eBay razor after a tune up on a Zulu Grey finisher. The last one of my 3 new hard soap pucks to be used and it too worked well. The Manchurian just keeps getting nicer to use also. With a start this good the rest of the day is a cinch to do so too. Hope you get as good a start.

Today: drizzle, rain, and expecting snow. The Shave: simple and pleasant, This later Henckles shaves as well as any of the vintage ones, and holds an edge. The Nivea is a good companion when the weather changes. I still like the #4711 as it brings back memories of a period of time when I was first able to afford a bottle!
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

Besides the big slit in my cheek it was a good shave. The razor despite being nearly NOS had no bevel. She was part of my razor hunt and I rescued her, giving her a good home. I gave it purpose again. She gives me purpose. Creepy? Yes. But better than sitting on my bed looking at the ceiling.

Soap: Williams Mug
A/S: Pinaud Lilac Vegetal
Result: The Lilac Vegatal showed up yesterday, so I gave it a go this morning, a first for me. I kept it simple to see what this fragrance is all about. I'm still within the 30 minute window I've read about, but so far so good. I otherwise had a DFS, and Williams did a good job for me, as always. As for the Lilac Vegetal, the scent is very light, and for some reason, I'm smelling pancakes with maple syrup, which is making me hungry. Happy Friday to all!

I realized a while ago that while I enjoy my digital camera (Panasonic DMC-FZ50: nice size, great lens (Leica-made), decent manual controls) I really miss my older Nikon SLRs. So I have dug them out, bought some Tri-X, and look forward to doing some wandering and enjoying some old-school film photography. Now, if I can just get access to a darkroom again, I'll be happy. This is one of my three Nikons: the venerable F3. Built like a tank and still working as well as the day I bought it 23 years ago.

Good insight. My dad used to take me to breakfast on Saturday mornings when I was a kid at our local diner. I always ordered pancakes and eggs. Some of my favorite memories. And my dad was a wet shaver, using a boar brush and a DE. I have no idea about his aftershave, but he did use tres flores.
