I didn't want to overkill the shave as the TEW is next in line, so I did 2 quick passes with the Tonsorial Gem. Still nice and clean and smelling like Leatherneck
One pass only. Not a close shave, and comfort was not quite where I like it. More work on the hones for the Reynolds is in store. Not bad, though. No nicks / cuts, we'll see about burn
Colleen's lavender gave nice rich lather. Tony's strop is just too huge compared to all else for the photo.
Cheers

Good shave that's the third razor. I'm convinced that the TAGMSC stuff is simply the best shave soap I have at the moment. I need to order more of it. The razor still needs a bit extra honing though. It feels a bit coarse compared to my TI and Krauss razors (the other 2 in my rotation).

Awesome shave with this blade after I honed it a 2nd time to get the edge I wanted. Even the toughest whiskers don't put up a struggle when they meet this razor and it's almost ridiculously easy to shave the chin well with it.

A mint shave, thanks in part to one of the new blades bought from Toxic recently (the other one being the Kessar 5/8 squarepoint with purpleheart scales which I really like).
No irritation or burn, no nicks, just a great shave needing a quick cross grain with the Quattro because I still haven't got the underchin cross grain pass nailed yet. Soon, soon ..

What a great soap (both the bath and shaving).... great scent and lather, nice and slippery resulting in a very smooth shave. Not BBS yet but not having to finish up with the DE anymore either.

Beautifull. I was a bit careless with the spike point so I nicked myself on the neck a couple of times but it feels like a million buck anyway. It seems I got the TI as sharp as anything. I love that blade and really don't regret spending $$ on it.

Great shave.
Williams Soap and first shave-test of the Boker Edelweiss. Williams tended to dry relatively quickly even with extra water added but it still outperformed C&E soaps lol. Edelweiss gave me a reasonably close and comfortable shave, which is a FAIL. Boker steel can perform a lot better than that and I will be taking it back to the hones and re-testing it tomorrow before I put her up for sale.

First time out with Tabac soap & A/S, and a new Revisor. I'm very pleased with all of them but my skin seems a bit dry after all is finished compared to a shave with my usual Mamabear soaps. Don't know yet if it's a fluke or a difference in the soaps but the Tabac lather is about as good as it gets.
Yep - Tabac lather is fab. Too bad my skin does not take it very well every time (some times it irritates a bit from the start, other times it's all good).
Maybe your skin is a bit dry because of the A/S - I don't have it but think it does contain alcohol. But I have to say I hear people talking that Tabac soap is not as moisturizing as others... still a top top soap for me
Cheers
Ivo
Funny this should come up today as I used my Tabac soap and A/S and noticed the same thing.
I really like the Tabac soap, but for some reason use it infrequently - I'm amazed that a soap that smells this strong doesn't irritate my skin more.
I really like the A/S, but it does have a drying effect and it certainly contains alcohol. The A/S has a very pronounced scent and lingers almost all day on me - especially when teamed with the soap.
I use a balm and/or moisturizer after the splash - there's only one or two soaps or creams that have enough moisturizing properties that I wouldn't feel the need to use a balm or moisturizer.

Great first shave with this razor - just got it from Joe and it came sharp as can be and is a good shaver.
I'm not sure how this compares to the current production Dovo SS razors, but they're supposed to be good shavers as well.
I do notice a difference between my SS and carbon razors - both materials shave well, but they have a slightly different feel.

Wondering about yesterday's dry skin after using Tabac soap and A/S, I used my best soap today with that A/S and don't have the dryness. I'll try the Tabac soap with a different alcohol based A/S next time and see what happens.
This was my first shave with this razor, a new one I bought a month or two ago and just recently honed up. It's a very pretty looking blade with the worked back and ground very thin. Some (most?) worked backs have a tendency to abrade the strops a bit but this one doesn't do that at all. VERY nice easy shave with it and good results even on the neck on one day's growth - this one goes into the regular rotation jar with the best razors.
I was going to shave-test the Edelweiss again but the customer, being an advanced user, preferred getting the razor sooner to extended shave-testing so I got the opportunity to shave-test the W&B :y
This was the first time I had the opportunity to shave with a 6+/8 wedge and it just powered through the stubble with no feedback. It was freaky and I'm not sure whether I like or dislike the feeling but I love the results. Perfectly clean face. Ofcourse, for this blade I just had to use Cavendish black :D
Additional note: I also tried Neutrogena Razor Defense lotion. That stuff ROCKS. Left my skin nice and soft without an oily finish, the smell is mild but goes well with my Axe Voodoo deodorant. Contains aloe and witch hazel.

Please, founders of the SRP, hear my confession, for I have sinned...
Yesterday I was in quite a bit of a hurry, so I had to do a "quicky shave". I falled back into old habits I thought I had sworn out. I splashed my face with cold  water and then put on some shaving foam.....out of a can...
I quickly shaved with a Gillette 2-blade and hurried out of the bathroom with terror in my eyes. No nicks, no cuts, no razorburn, but no great shave.
I'm glad it didn't give me any pleasure, so today I can focus on a good and decent straight shave.
Can you please forgive me, dear founders? :bow :bow I hope you'll allow me some faceturbation today?
(Coming week I will clean out my bathroom and throw away all the old habits -literally-)

Terrible, just horrible. I HATE the alum block now. It hurt me pretty bad. Never again.
It was my Dads 60th birthday today, and I had 3 odd days growth ready for a good shave around my parents house prior to going out which was great until I realised I left my brush behind :roflmao but had brought almost everything else.
Time to improvise! Despite our boiler going faulty 4 weeks ago, today I had the pleasure of lots of hot water and a big countertop which I don't have the pleasure of in our apartment.
On top of that, I left my soap and cream behind too. I guess I'm just not well adapted to travelling with all this new shaving peraphinalia.
I took a chance and scrubbed up with a slab of soap in the bathroom dish. Not a thick lather, but not too bad, smelled fairly nondescript but stuck well to the face and gave a VERY nice shave! My lucky day!
So the shave ended up as:
Hot rinse
Dove hair conditioner on face for 5 minutes really softened the hairs nicely
Hot rinse and proraso green
Hand lathered up some Dove soap
5/8 Kessar Purpleheart
1 down, 1 up and across the jawline.
Cold rinses, alum rub and drip dry.
Witch hazel /w citrus splash, then GFT Coral.
Best shave to date, and what I found today as a newbie straight shaver ..
1) You dont need high end soap or cream to have a good shave with a straight
2) Having an extra days growth goes a LONG way to getting a much better shave with much less irritation.
I guess everyone's skin is different and our milage varies, but today I had a fantastic shave that really stands head and shoulders above everything I have experienced so far despite going with an impromptu shaving soap substitute :D

Had to go with a quick shower/shave so just one pass everywhere. Still fairly close/presentable and felt great. Still better than I got with Mach3/Fusion/Electric and almost as fast with no nicks or razor burn. Really enjoying shaving these days, normally a short timeline would have meant skipping it entirely and going out scruffy.
