Razor | J A Hellberg | Soap | Proraso | After Shave | Floïd
This morning I took my own advice, as is pertinent to do at times, and had an icy cold water shave with Proraso. It really is wonderful, though I would guess that to you folk in the frosty northern climes the thought doesn’t at this time fill you with joy. Here the temperature is in the mid to high 30s. This I think will be the last warm burst from summer; before too long the leaves on the vines will be yellow and falling and the morning mist will sit in the valleys until lunchtime, wood smoke will drift from chimneys and crumpets with hot tomato soup will be weekend lunchtime fare…
Good morning everybody,
-Proraso preshave
-Kropp 11/16"
-Semogue 2000
-Dr. Harris Marlborough soap
-Dr. Harris Marlborough ASL & Cologne

The Shave before the Storm... We are expected to get a lot of snow today (I don't believe the hype), so I figured I should make sure my skin is nice and smooth. I broke out the vintage Yardley and the Dovo 55 - and they worked a treat! I am ready to face the work day. I just wonder if the office will remain open...
Prep: Shower
Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik basic
Brush: Thater 4125/00 2 band Fan
Soap: Nanny's Silly Soap Company soft "Coriander"
Razor: CV Heljestrand Frameback
Astringent: Osma Alum
Balm: Woods of Windsor Aftershave Balm
Eau de Toilette: Penhaligons Castile
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d6...ps2098f41f.jpg
Notes: Not a bad shave. Perhaps my expectations were too high given this razor's reputation. In honing I didn't want to push it as far as I pushed the Hellberg - perhaps I should have. A bit of sting but BBS nonetheless.
Surprised by the soap - for some reason I thought it would smell like a curry (the sample packaging perhaps) but I found I rather liked it.
Prep - None
Strop - 3 Inch bridle leather/hard felt
Razor - Premier Cutlery "Premier King"/stropped night previous
Brush - Omega 10066 Boar
Soap - Tabac puck/cold water face lathered
Post - Alum block followed with Thayers witch hazel
AS - Aqua Velva Ice Blue
What a lovely little razor, shaves as well as any DD I have. The Tabac is a soap that I hate to put away to await it's turn in rotation, just great. After two weeks of everyday use the Omega boar brush is almost broken in, another week should do it. Good thing too because my other brushes are feeling neglected. I really hear that Simpsons Manchurian badger calling out to me to be used. Hope your mid week shave was as fine too.

Nice description of your oncoming fall season. Not to worry, some of us northern folk love our cold water shaves. I have been doing them since the new year and see no reason to go back to hot water. It has warmed up here lately and was only -8C when I got up this morning.

The Day? Bright and cold -9ºC. The Shave? I remember why i like these blades! The whole razor seems to be made to fit my face. Nivea as always was a good choice. Ultra Black por Homme is from a garage sale, I like it but do not know the maker.
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

Wednesday evening - The "oops" shave
Hot water prep
Wade & Butcher FBU spike point razor - Silvertip badger brush - TOBS Sandalwood sc - cold water splash - T&H 1805 asb - Hot towel - LaLique white EdT
I call this the "oops" shave because of a freak incident. I had just touched up the W&B on the Thuri and was about to take off the tape on the spine, when the razor sort of slipped from my hands and made carpaccio of my thumb. A whole slice taken off. i was caught by surprise and started bleeding like a pig. Went downstairs, got bandage, taped it up, put a thumb of a rubber glove over it and continued my journey. "Big boys don't cry" was the motto here. Finished the shave to the tunes of Art Blakey and the Messengers and feel relaxed. Now let me go change my bandage... :)
The thumb... (ouch)

OUCH!! I don't know if it makes you feel better, but one of the reasons I didn't post a pic yesterday was because I was taking care of my own finger mishaps. Yes, plural.
Hang in there amigo!
Really like the look of the ERN!!
Just a pic today...

Yeah, I had my doubts posting that pic, but I figured it would be a good lesson for those that think razors aren't sharp and stuff...
Well, turns out, mine are... just that, sharp...
