Default good blade for every day use.

I am curently using the Walgreens brand blade which is quite agressive, but that works well for me as I shave my first day on shift and it will pass when I come in for my second day, then I get 2 days off. But soon I may get sent to a "school" for 6 months or so where I will need to shave every day, doing this with the walgreens brand would distroy my face. So for those of you who shave every day what do you use or suggest?

    Hello sjb,
Here is a small list of my preferred blades: Polsilver Iridium, Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (yellow packs), PermaSharp Super, Israeli Personna (Red Pack), Astra and Derby. The Derby is the lowest of the bunch in quality, but still good enough for a daily shaver. Whether you shave twice a week or every day, a sharp and smooth blade is a must.
    Nightblade and Redcane like this.

I like and use all the blades Obie suggested except the Derby. I would also suggest considering the Gillette Silver Blue. They do very well in all of my razors. You can get 100 for $19.94 shipped from Razorsdirect.com: Double Edge Razors - De Razors Use the CUSTSERV Discount Code to get the 10% discount.

FYI-You can also get 5 to try at Maggard Razors for $2.25+shipping: Gillette Silver Blue Double Edge Razor Blades (5 blades) | Maggard Razors - Straight Razor Restoration, Custom Scales and Wet Shaving Products

    Good Luck!

I'm a big fan of Astras and Feathers, but I hardly ever use my DE, in favour of a straight. If you find you still get sensitive skin or irritation, try a cold shave or just WTG to spare your skin

I think that feathers are best but for a every day use (considering also the economic side) i think gillette 7 o'clock yellow or Silver blue if you can find them at good price...astras are good but not so comfortable ofr every day use.
what kind of razor do you have?

I have my grand fathers Super speed, a Gillette new, and tech (I have a nack for vintage). And thank you everyone for the suggestions.

One of the smoother blade brands I've used was Wilkinson Sword. They get their smoothness from a PTFE (Teflon) coating. Feather blades are very sharp (some people say too sharp) but can give a very smooth shave depending on your technique and what razor you put them into. Gillette Super speeds are nice razors, especially when used with Feather blades!

The best advice is to buy a few different brands and see what works for you!

I'd be wary of Feathers, they can be a bit too sharp IMO - and a lot of people agree from what I've seen. I recommend Astras; for my face they're a great compromise between sharp and smooth. See if you can get a sample pack somewhere and give them a go.

If you're after really sharp then Feather is the way to go. When I shaved with a DE all the time I actually like Shark blades. They had a good balance of sharpness and longevity whilst being pretty cheap. Well worth trying.

I agree with Danm, I use WS blades with a good smooth shave every time .
