    + 1 on HardCase.

I got a sample pack and of the ones I've tried Wilkinson Swords (mine are made in Germany) are the best for me in comfort and # of shaves, with Feather also very good. I just used a Shark for its second time, and won't be using any more. I was not too crazy about Merkur either, but they weren't awful. I've also tried Lord Platinum, which I found so-so, but I think they're relatively inexpensive. I'm shopping for the Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow now because I'm looking for a comfortable blade that will last me 3 shaves and not break the bank.

I too will test out some of the other suggestion...especially Personna.

Gillette blade on Gillette razor is the best combination....on my Gillette rocket i used with satisfaction yellow gillette blade (best satisfaction with silver) and Feather.
But for every day use i guess again, if we see economical side, yellow gillette is the best choice( i dont' remember exactly price of yellow blade but i remember that price is half then feather or silver)

Being that I recently transferred to a job with nuts hours I've only been using my DE for the past couple of months. I rate Astra blades and gillette yellows. I'm using personna isreali jobbies from Asda/Walmart at the moment and love them.

My favorites the Gillette 7 O'clock yellows and the Astras. They seem to work in all my razors including a slant and EJ89 as well as an '40's Aristocrat when I use a DE. The Astras are economical and the yellows, though a little more, aren't too bad either buckola wise. Of course, YMMV.

i'm kind of surprised at all of the 7OC Yellow suggestions... out of the four 7OCs the yellows and greens were tied for last in my experience.

I would suggest you try: Astra SP, Gillette 7'OC Black, Personna Labs, or my personal favorite SuperMax Super Platinums.

As you look through this thread it soon becomes apparent that as far as blades are concerned YMMV to the extreme. When I started DE shaving some 3 years ago I couldn't wait to try loads of different blades and in doing so never achieved a base line to compare from. My advice, when you start DE shaving use a blade that feels reasonable and stick with this one for about 6 months. By this time you should have your technique sorted and know how to wield the razor and adjust the pressure to ensure no burn or irritation.
Then get yourself a sampler pack of blades as numerous as possible and at least 2 of each to avoid the situation of a rogue blade. Shave with a make for at least a week, if it's better than the one you've been using for the 6 months you've been practicing this becomes your best blade and the benchmark moves. Next week try another repeat the process if the next blade is better then this becomes the benchmark if worse file the rest of this type but don't throw any away. You can continue with this method until you have tried all your samples. If 2 are close on comfort and quality of shave try using these on alternate days to fine tune your best blade.
You may be asking why not get rid of the blades that don't work for you in the above example, well here's the next variable different blades work in different ways in different DE razors.
So there really is no absolute answer to your question as you can see each variable brings a different recommendation for each DE shaver. Different skin, different beard etc.
My final bit of advice explore and enjoy the journey it can be never ending!!
