Yea it was a great time I am going to shave more often now. I watched a few you tube videos on how to do it. I had some irritation and bleeding due to lack of shave cream but that is an adjustment from the disposable (lack of moisture strip)

Your angle might also be too blunt, as in at a higher angle from the skin. A blunter angle can remove skin and cause razor burn and/or cuts. You might experiment with sharpening your angle slightly next shave and see if that helps.

It sounds like you're off to a good start if you're enjoying the process already.

    Welcome, Dema!

Awesome kit. Very traditional. Don't put yourself down there. Loooooove CO Bigelow. Looks like a nice DE, to boot!

I'm interested about your shave: How many passes did you do?

I'm planning on trying out my DE some time in the near future. When I started straights, I stuck with them. Then I picked up a single edge(SE) razor and used it twice, for the interesting experience and novelty.

Glad to hear of your success. You may want to add your locale into your profile. You're joined the fraternity, now.

It's all about LIGHT pressure. The weight of the razor is, in most cases, sufficient to shave. Any pressure you're adding is more than what's required and is often the source of any mishaps.

What he said. It's the angle that determines closeness, not pressure.

I did 2 passes. the area I bled at was my lower neck where the hair grows all wonky. I always have an issue with it. this being my first time doing it I think i fared rather well. I really enjoyed it. cant wait for the next one

I can't stress "mapping" your face enough (knowing which way your beard grows at all spots). When starting off with a DE, its hard to remember its about reduction, not pressure. Giving her too much pressure when shaving across the grain, on the first pass, can really cause irritation.

That's to say, on your first pass, strive to always be shaving with the grain.

For what its worth, I would rather 3 really light passes than two with slightly more pressure.

That said - welcome to SRP and wet shaving!!

Congrats! Nothing to be ashamed of there! Great razor an cream. Good starting brush. Work on the angle an pressure till you get it figured out. An earcutter gave good advice above. Have at it!
