Default Deal alert, local, Toronto area - Tech-inspired razors for travel/rebuild - $1.49+HST

There is a dollar store in the Lake Shore Village, S side of Lake Shore BLVD W, a couple of blocks E of Islington, a couple of doors down from the Clock Factory and they are selling "Gelleme" razors that are based on the Gillette Tech design for $1.50. I bought 3 lol.. You can use them as semi-disposable travelers or to rebuild your Tech if it's rusted to s***. I tested and my Tech handle screws right in. Bought 3 on (correct) suspicion lol They even come with a blade that you can use for scraping labels, but I have plenty of Derbys to last me until I move out of the country where my wife is already waiting for me with my straights. They look like the one in this picture, also black plastic handle:

Shave report: Looks like the razor is a bit more aggressive than the original Tech design. Coupled with a very light handle (thus requiring a bit of pressure) even considering the fact that I was running a fresh blade, it resulted in more harshness than expected. Using Clubman aftershaves didn't help I'll try to run this one with a tech handle next time out and post up a report.

With the Chinese razors, there is often a bit of side play of the blade. So be careful to assure the blade has the same amount showing along tits length while tightening the razor. That may reduce the aggressiveness.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't check the alignment when I ran it in stock form, and I already put on the original Tech handle in preparation for Shave test #2 a couple of days from now. By the way, my prep was barely adequate and the blade was brand spankin new, but even with that taken into consideration, the shave was very aggressive. I have 2 theories (that aren't mutually exclusive):

    1) More blade is definitely showing than on a stock Tech head, so one has to be more careful with the angles than I'm used to when it comes to DE's
    2) The lighter handle definitely forces me to apply more pressure than I normally would

There was more butchery during a shower shave, which is unusual as shower shaves are less likely to give me weepers. This is the first time that a 3rd shave on a blade would give me weepers. Typical experience is a couple on the first, one or none on the 2nd and never on the 3rd shave. I'll confirm that it's not the blade by moving it to the classic configuration (all GT, no China razor parts)

Definitely the razor.. Went with Gillette Tech everything, reused the Derby blade, same prep but even longer stubble and had absolutely ZERO weepers. These razors are gonna get trashed. Sorry for getting any hopes up
