I know nothing about these. From looking at these pics can someone recommend a blade for it? It looks different than the DE razors I have seen to this point.

I imagine it takes a single edge blade, but just wanted to confirm.
What you have there is a Christy Razor.

Ya, I bought it because I'm from Buffalo, NY and I like old stuff from there. The box was in really nice condition. Wasn't necessarily intending on shaving with it, I like my straights, but once I won it I was like 'eh might as well give it a shot and see how it shaves. So now I'm trying to figure out what I need to do it. Looks like you could just pop a single edge blade in there, but I was looking for some confirmation before I purchased.
If it's a Christy razor, it takes a proprietary blade that is long out of production. If you just want it as a collectors piece, have at it. Maybe you can shoehorn a single edge blade into it. :shrug:
Lookin at pics I think you may be right. Guess I will need to wait till it gets here and read the written material in the box and see if it sheds any light on what it takes. As I said though I originally bought it more as a knick knack, then got more curious. I will say when searching single edge safety razor and christy razor I see no head that exactly matches this one, but the cristie's look a little closer in terms of overall design.
Yep, that's a lovely razor, but it does use proprietary blades. I don't think anyone has figured out a safe way to use regular SE blades with that. Still, it will be nice as a curiosity.
