Default Fat Tip Italian Safety Razor

Hope this is ok in this section of the forum - I just found this razor which looks new in box in one of my drawers. Don't even remember buying it. I used it this morning for a couple strokes and it seems kind of aggressive but not overly. They advertise these as being very aggressiveName: 2014-11-12 11.11.15.jpg

That's an Italian made Fatip Piccolo. Nice aggressive razors that wont break the bank.

Nice looking Open Comb DE. I would do a full 3 pass shave before passing final judgement on how aggressive it is though.

    Gentlemen,
The Fatip is a fine shaver, although quite aggressive. The shave head is similar to that on the French-made Joris. If I recall correctly, one company made the shave head for the other? I could be thinking of something else, too. I remember calling the Fatip the poor man's Joris. Fit and finish on the Fatip are not the greatest. Still, the razor is worth the money, if you like an aggressive razor.

I suppose you are right Bob. I did use it on my most tender places though ( neck and chin)

Not saying it will change your initial impression but the cumulative effect of multiple pass can make a difference. Open Comb DEs are among my favourites. Virtually clog proof by design and an aggressive/efficient one is very close shaving.

I've had several of these razors - they're pretty effective, and nice looking, to boot.

As with any skill, refining your technique with it will improve both the comfort as well as the completeness of the shave.

    Have fun.

Well, got my Fatip Piccolo today. Wanted a modern OC on the aggressive side and that is what it is. Initial 2 pass test shave with a Gillette Silver blue blade indicates that it is a smooth close shaving razor. Just what the doctor ordered. Like every review of this razor I can't say the finish id top notch but good enough for the price point for sure. The nickle plating is fine but the metal finishing under it is so so. Nice fairly heavy razor due to the use of brass in the head from what I have read. It looks like it will be one of my favourite three modern DEs, the other 2 being the Muhle R41 2013 version and the Merkur slant.

I was looking for a Tradere handle and one came up on ebay, a 2nd gen handle, that came with a Fatip Piccolo complete. So I went for it and I must say the Fatip is a fine DE razor. Mine will be a part of my DE shaving repertoire from now on.
