Meh.
Case is "creative" and works as a travel kit if the razor and brush are secured but is still too bulky for that purpose and probably more a nuisance than one might think, not to mention how funky a wet brush might get in that thing if used daily, and if you leave everything open to dry, why have a case? All the rest, including what I assume is a Diablack coating is reinventing the wheel, but for the dual comb style which I think is a mistake. It might greatly impress a cartridge user but I assume for most of us it's just a ̶g̶o̶o̶f̶y̶ unusual razor in black.
Well it is a pretty attractive commercial. I am not going to buy one but I can see why you would. The travel case setup looks very attractive. It would be interesting to hear from someone really experienced about what the quality is and how well it works.
Nice little kit. Looks like how my backpacking cooking gear is stored. Everything inside the pot for storage. It is still taller than my cooking gear though. I think if the razor handle broke down into a couple pieces and the brush was a true travel brush you could shave a couple inches off the height.
I think that the air tightness of the case would create issues and it is very big for a travel kit in my opinion. I have bought travel razors for much less than the $175 donation that gives you one of these.
For me it is too big and bulky for travel. I think it is much easier to pack a travel brush in a case, a shave stick and a razor in a case with spare blades separately in either a Dopp bag or roll up dopp.
Bob
Travel brush in a .50$ coin tube, razor in a travel pouch and a sampler of soap.
That's how I roll to travel. All of it fits in your hand
Not to pile on with the negatives but other than the case, it ain't unique. It IS overpriced for what it is. Most critically, it would have been nice if the demonstrator had ever used a lathering brush or DE razor before.
Remember "Form follows function"?
Nice enough to look at; but otherwise, where does it improve on existing designs?
This razor does not appear to be any better than what has been around for a long time and the travel container is attractive but highly impractical.
Any combination of razor and brush takes the choice of brush away from the user and I would rather pick a brush of my own choosing.
Unless someone proves to me that this razor provides a shave that exceeds what 50-year old Gillettes offer and comes with an exceptional brush I think I will pass this one.
I have seen too many designs where looks trumped functionality.
B.
I understand the sentiment to not want to pile on with negative comments but, while it is standard sales pitch procedure, the hyperbole of the product's description warrants some push back.
"exceeds what 50-year old Gillettes offer"
That really is the crux of the matter and what I mean by them trying to "reinvent the wheel". It would be a great project for someone in design school where they have to show inventiveness in every aspect of a product but that doesn't necessarily translate into value or practicality. It may be the high road to just smirk at a black razor in a tube with a "superior synthetic brush" put together by Artists, but it's interesting to discuss it too.
You know, I really think it would be hard to improve on some of the travel kits I have seen that Gillette offered way back in the day. It would be an easier and more compact a solution to just emulate and update with modern materials the old Gillette travel kits. I mean how much space would a modern DE, pack of 10 blades in a plastic dispenser, synthetic travel brush in a tube and a shave stick in a tube fitted into a plastic clam shell molded with rounded corners and edges take? That is relative to the bulky round container on offer.

The first time I watched the promo video I had the sound off. I just rewatched it and found it humorous.
Everyone's criticisms are spot on. Maybe the designers will read this thread and improve their product. I would gladly test their shave set.
Bob, I agree that the vintage Gillette travel set would be hard to improve upon. I would love to try one of these out...
