Finally arrived Gem Stainless Steel coated SE blades

Popped one into my 1912 Gem SE and gave it a spin. Have to say they are as smooth or smoother shaving than any carbon steel SE blade that I have tried. Big bonus too is not having to deal with rusting carbon steel blades. I don't know why anyone would use carbon steel SE blades when these are available. If you live in Canada go the extra mile to import these, well worth it, imo.

Is my assumption that SE Blades are stiffer, because of their thickness and the "spine" that they shave better than most DE?

They are definitely thicker, Harold. I suppose that the determining factor on how an SE shaves is the length of the teeth/bar, but DE's actually 'bend' and sometimes 'twist' the blades differently in addition to the teeth, or bar.
I truly enjoy the SE shaves much more in a fairly aggressive one. Just me.

I have been satisfied with products from both these sources:

I did like the blades in the cardboard boxes a bit better.

These are by far not the only sources and RB&M has the Feathers to fit the Valet razors. Have to email them to be sure you order the correct ones.

Truly great blades and the 1912 Gem SE makes for a nice pairing.
It doesn't get much better.
Shipping to Canada almost doubles the price but still well worth the cost in my opinion.

I love the Gem shaves. Here are my current favorite ones. I love the Micromatic. I have given 3 away to friends who are afraid of straights. All with a mug, brush, and Williams!

The same blades I use, the PTFE 3 facet. I get quite a few shaves out of each blade.

SE razors can be extremely rewarding. I've been using them a lot lately, although I prefer GEM OCMMs or CPs to the ever popular 1912.
